Front Drive-Line help

My '01 SR5 is stuck in 4WD after I replaced the front dif actuator. Put the old one back on.

I took the plastic cover off the transfer case shift actuator and it was corroded. Cleaned it, lightly scraped/shined up the electrical paths and it worked a couple of times but now it won't come out of 4WD. I need to make a 6 hour trip home, tomorrow, but I was wondering if I took the front driveline off, will it hurt the transfer case to drive it far with the front 'yoke' spinning freely? I will pull the front dif actuator back off and slide the sleeve out to get it out of 4WD, and maybe leave it unplugged to get home. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

I think you're good to remove the driveshaft for the trip... Much better than driving for 6 hours in 4wd.

As for the actuator, I hope it's different than from the 4r version. .. People who dismantled those only rarely get the timing correct and end up replacing the actuator. It's not considered a serviceable component by Toyota and the FSM doesn't cover timing, only replacement
