Just like the title says, when in tow/haul mode should the engine use rpms to help brake the truck? Noticed today that it didn't and didn't know if it was supposed to? Thanks

I noticed my brother-in-law‘s first GEN does this when going down a hill. If he taps the brake it will hold the speed really well and engine break. I think our trucks do it too just not is noticeably.

I don’t know about in tow/haul mode. But there is a big hill I come down on the way home from work. It’s a 35 zone and if I am coasting and I get to 45-50 mine will downshift and start to slow down till I start to brake.

So is it only supposed to do it on hills? All of my route today was flat but I watched it pretty close when slowing down and didn't see the rpms jump to help slow the truck down.

Mine also does it on hills without Tow/Haul being on, and it's only done it a handful of times when I hit the breaks really hard.

Mine will do it also you have to just tap the break to activate it. I do not have to be in town haul mod for it to work but do believe it has to be at least 40 mph.

Mine will use the engine to slow the truck while in Tow/haul.

+1, I believe that you wont necessarily see RPMs jump because it uses engine not a downshift

on another note, the truck pulled the weight fine but boy does it need some help in the weight carrying department. with about 700 lbs in the bed and 3k worth of trailer i was squatting bad

It works really well. I’m telling you guys/gals, these trucks can work hard within the design limits.

Can you imagine owning an older Dodge and the first thing you need to do is drop 3800.00 in a transmission to make it last?
