The vent ring is flawless if you’re looking for that placement. I have a dash mount for my iPhone 8+ and it’s very durable on any road condition, but I got it for off road capabilities

I had a similar floor seat bracket mount for my iPad Air2
I had a window mount-too big obstructs my view.
I didn’t like it bc it sits low and bounces a lot on dirt. Letting it rest on the console helps with that but you will get some scratches etc.

I then went with a cup holder mount. Sits exactly where I wanted it to. Still bounces on dirt but holds up really well.

My iPad got stolen so I downsize to my iPad mini. I was able to use a mob armor mag mount to hold it up. No bouncing, but it did start pivoting through the washboards.
With the smaller iPad it didn’t obstruct the view.

I am now going ram mount. I think that will be the best solution.

I use the arkon mounts. I have had no problems. Mounts to the seat bolt. They give you 2 sets of mounts and my ipad and iphones don’t fall out

It’s a very nice system, I just didn’t like you loose the rotation of the vent have to set it where you want it.

hot or cold. I just like to have the option to move it around. That's just me. It's a solid setup I really like it. Just the locked vent was no bueno.

out of all the damn names though.. eclipsed and floating? and now you are female!?!? wtf is going on!

Great looking set up! The Cup holder mount might be the way I want to go if it is sturdy enough. I have a ProClip mount for my table but with my cell phone right under it I really do not like how it sits now. Also my passenger can not use the tablet for guidance if need me on the current ProClip mount.

going with the cup holder mount I would recommend using some weather strip for added grip as you expand that cup holder mount. if you use the one under the radio that one is a bit smaller, so the added grip will help keep it in.
also if you are ok with positioning it lower than I had it. drop an arm or two if you can, I noticed it the less arms, less bouncy.

Thanks for the info. Also like you said might just want to save up and go Ram mount since it is the sturdiest it seems like but do have to drill into side maybe.

I would go with this setup. Gives me a little more versatility. @iamroamr on instagram has it mounted.

pretty much ram track and then slide in whatever mount you like. gives you more play with positioning etc..

if @expeditionessentials can make one for the tundra I'd like to do some like this as well. not much position versatility, but kinda same concept. They need a Tundra to mock up. They are in Monroe Washington if anyone can get us something made!

Who makes that cup holder version?

I like that position (your photo). Up high blocks windshield a bit I agree

    Edit: thanks!

Great price of the Touch Track from Ram Mount too. Thanks for the idea!!! Might be leaning tat way now instead of the cup holder or the passenger seat mount. Might just have some arms bring it a little lower and closer to the passenger.

Yeah! Very versatile system. Definitely look into it. I’m sure you can conjure up some different ideas.
Also you don’t necessarily have to mount there. Another good spot I would say is center console(which is replaceable) it would be on passenger side, but with some arms and imaginations you can get it where your want.
