I have a 2011 crewmax 5.7L im looking to upgrade my travel trailer size. I currently have a 18ft that fully loaded in like 3k pounds and I can barely tell its there. I wanted to see how big you guys have gone trailer wise and been felt fine in that your not killing the truck? I know the manual says give or take around 10k i believe but rather hear from experienced guys.

Just a few, more to come
hauled my 4runner on a 20ft flatbed 750 miles out and back to moab and didnt feel it was too much. I was about 8000-8500lbs estimated behind the truck. Long distance I wouldnt really want to go more than that and granted a travel trailer has more surface for wind, but I think if you stay in the 7000-8000 range it shouldnt be too bad.

We tow a 34 ft travel trailer fully loaded it weighs 8200 lbs and our 2015 5.7 sr5 double cab which is rated to tow 10,300 lbs pulls it like a charm and we ave. 9 mph so I think it can handl pretty much what ever you want.

I tow between 6 and 7k lbs (trailer included) a few times a week per the scale at the rock yard.

Actually what is supposed to matter is the CGVWR which is the total of the vehicle weight with everything and everybody plus the towed weight. The CGVWR on my first gen is about 12k or so and I've snuck into the "closed" highway scales and weighed out at almost 14k, so even the 1st Gens will tow a lot. Is it a good idea? Most likely not, but she did it with no drama and actually got 10+mpg at 75ish in the states that allowed it. Truck has a GVW of 6040# and weighs close to 6k all the time, add 2 people and gear for 10 days in Moab plus a built FJ-40 on a 16ft. Carson and it adds up fast. From most articles I've read about Travel trailers it suggests a trailer that weighs no more than 60% of the rated Tow Capacity which would put the "Ideal" trailer for the 10k rated Tundras at about 6k.

At my last job, I pulled one of these 1,000 gal liquid fertilizer trailers (roughly 12,000 lbs loaded) with our 2011 Rock Warrior. She pulled 'er like a champ

Would be interested to see how the truck drives with that much load. Im sure it pulls it without struggle.

The only time it struggled was in the heavy, Georgia-mud-after-a-July-downpour type ground we were growing on. And my 3/4 ton Duramax struggled with that mud too.

Just got back from a trip with our 35ft Kodiak Travel trailer , it's a 300 bhsl , 7300 pds dry closer to but under 8000 loaded , pulls it great . I have a TRD sway bar , Firestone Ride rites airbags, and Reece WDH with anti sway control along with a P3 brake controller . It stays straight and pulls great I think , it doesn't seem to be stressing it much either , just let the motor and truck do the work and keep her in tow haul mode . We are gonna be taking a trip to the outer banks of North Carolina later this summer and headed to Surfside beach in about 4 weeks ;)

Not sure where you are located (assume the east coast?), but we are considering something along that size. Glad to hear the truck pulls great. My wife has doubts. I still need to get the following:

-Toyota Tow mirrors. Must have. The sport mirrors are ok for DD or small trailers. I find it a PITA to back my 16' flatbed using the mirrors now and lose sight of the trailer at times. Not good.

-I will probably go with some Hellwig/Superspring setup for the load leveling. May not need it. So far, with proper LDH bars, this has not been an issue.

-Need to buy some more brackets for the TT and my flatbed. This load had some tongue weight and deformed the brackets a bit...oops. You can see the brackets are starting to bend inward. I bent them back out and flipped the mounting bracket to get more strength.

That sounds like a wonderful trip to me. I have a buddy leaving NC in July and coming back to CO. He has enjoyed his 3 year stent in NC.
