    Hey everyone,

I need some advice. I am about to purchase a 2016 4x4 Tundra and wanted everyone's thoughts. I have been looking for a few weeks now and am thinking about purchasing a 2016 SR5 TSS 4x4. I am really in the market for a 4x4 truck that is dependable and will last a long time. I don't really plan on doing a bunch of upgrades to the vehicle. What are your thoughts on the TSS edition? Currently the dealership I have been speaking to is offering 0% financing for 60 months plus $1500 rebate on the TSS vehicles. They are also offering to discount the truck an additional $2000. Ultimately the truck will run around $44k. I want leather interior and they only offer aftermarket leather on this truck. Trying to determine if I should purchase the TSS edition with all of the purchase incentives or buy a limited edition with factory leather.

    Any input is much appreciated.

Welcome to the site! It all depends on what you want. If you want a sportier looking truck go with the TSS. If you want a more luxurious truck go with the Limited. No doubt you could get a limited for around $44K. Either way you are looking at the right trucks if you want something dependable and will last a long time.

FWIW, I bought a brand new limited CM 4x4 for $42k (?) without any big rebates. TSS just has some extra decals and steps I think? :notsure:

We dont have the TSS package up North, but I think you should price out a Limited or a another trim with leather to compare which you like and how much it will set you back.

Like Sean said, not a lot of changes with the TSS besides those things and the wheels. I do love the black TSS wheels though

I appreciate the responses. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of leverage with the dealership. I am trading in a 2010 GMC Sierra crew cab Z71 with approx 70,000 miles that has a bad motor. They know it has the bad motor and are willing to give me about $21000 if I buy a new tundra from them. I have received a trade in offer of about $16,500 from another Toyota dealer. The dealership I am talking to has also offered to give me an additional $2000 discount off the price of the new truck. I just don't know how much Toyota typically comes off of their prices

Also if I get the limited should I add TRD package?

    Thanks

Yep. Comes with the towing package. I don't tow yet, but better to have and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

I appreciate your thoughts. I am going to end up paying around 44k for this truck if I decide to buy it over a limited. It will have aftermarket leather installed at this price.

That's a nice looking truck! Those wheels are actually the same wheels they put on the Texas Edition Tundras here in TX. I'm wondering if they swapped out the TSS wheels for these. I don't know how you feel about chrome but the true TSS wheels come in chrome or black. The truck still looks great though.

The only concern I have is that this truck does not come with the all terrain suspension. It is the TSS sports series and not TSS off road. It is 4 wheel drive and I was told that the ground clearance is the same as the off road package but I don't know what the big difference is between the off road suspension and the other. Honestly if the regular suspension has a smoother ride then I would probably lean towards buying it instead. I wish the truck had the all terrain tires instead of the rugged terrain tires because I like the look better but the dealer wouldn't switch the tires because they were worried about damaging the tire sensors.

Oops...my first post and I fat fingered it...
I had the same dilemma. I sorta wanted leather but the TSS trucks the dealer had didn't have them. You can't go wrong with whatever Tundra you get. My 2016 is the first new vehicle since buying a 94 Toyota PU 4x4. Anyway, I fell in love with my new truck and have to admit my wife picked it out...saying it was "bad ass!" Good luck!

I think that is a nice lookin truck! I like the chrome rims with the chrome bumpers. I dont have any chrome on my truck but it doesnt mean I dont like chrome. I know alot of guys here arent real fond of chrome, but I like it. As far as leather seats go I wanted them also, but mostly for the fact they were heated,( I have back issues ) but I dont miss them 8 months out of the year. So it wasnt a deal breaker for me!

Decided to buy a limited instead. Although I find it odd that the limited I'm buying has a chrome front bumper and a painted rear bumper. Ultimately I decided that I could get a limited for roughly the same price as the special edition SR5. I can't imagine that the resale value of the TSS SR5 will be as good as the limited. Anyways the truck I posted above is still available if interested

Yep that's how the limited's come. Painted rear bumper and chrome front. Good choice on the purchase. Where are the pics of said truck?

Congrats on the new truck! I am trying to figure out what kind of exhaust setup to get. I don't think I'm gonna do much more to it after that.
    Cheers

I saw NO, NO, & NO. You can do better on the TSS. I am not realy in the market right now but after seeing all of the for GMs and now Toyotas I sent out a request for a quote. Right off the bat I got back one for $6k+ on a white 4x4 TSS. I also got a quote back on a Silverado at $13k off on a $48k truck. There are some really good deals out there but I believe they will get better.

MSRP looks high. MSRP on the one I was quoted was $3-$4k lower. Same truck except 2017

I think thats not the MSRP, just the add ons with the MSRP, I havent looked at it only emails! He said a 2017

below would do $43,000, but for that you can get a DC 2017 TRD PRO!

I like it all black, even the tires and they do have a black interior instead of the graphite
