Too funny...sellers on eBay are using pics of my Tundra to sell knock off running boards. I guess I should be flattered that they like my taste! Although the running boards on my truck are OEM.

Yeah I've seen your truck on eBay for a long time. Thought you knew about it and were letting them.

No, I just saw it recently, I think it's funny that they are trying to sell aftermarket stuff with pictures of the real thing!

Theirs wouldn't look the same on the truck so they have to use the OEM pic to sell theirs.
Are you going to let them know? Ask to pull it down or pay you advertising fees.

Wouldn't doing this be some degree of fraud or bait and switch?

Are they stolen if they are on a public forum...? I saw a YouTube video the other day on tundra modifications that had my pictures.

Public forum so technically they can be saved but the question that comes into play is can they use them for advertising/making money without compensation or approval to use.

If the license plate or vin can't be proven from the pic then you have no proof it's yours either. Out of luck.

If you post a pic on the Internet without copywriting it, then it can be used by someone else to make money. If it was copywritten, then it couldn't be used for commercial gain.

What I was questioning, was that they're showing a genuine product, but selling a knock-off. You'd be purchasing expecting the genuine item, but receiving one that isn't. Unless there's a disclaimer that indicates that the "...picture may not represent actual..." That kinda stuff.

I can absolutely prove them to be my pics of my truck. I have the original pics before they photoshopped the color of the running boards, plus I doubt someone has all the same goodies as mine. Really I realize they are not stolen, but they are definitely miss-representing the product they are selling!

@ShawnL You should call them out on it and just see what they say. Curious if they would say anything.

Oh I get it. Just be normal and take your own picture of your own product you are selling. It's easier to use an existing photo of a nice truck on the web compared to taking your own, I get that, but it's not the norm, it's strange. In addition the product they are selling isn't what is actually on the truck. In my opinion they are doing something strange so they are weirdos, by my defintition anyway haha. Clever, maybe, lazy, for sure. Weirdos.

Unfortunately, there is not much one can do even if the picture has copyright privileges. Really, the only thing to protect yourself is doing something like water marking the photo with your logo. Even then, photoshop can take care of that.
I have a few people that I know that do photography professionally and this is a serious issue and problem. Take them to court...but at what cost?

The best thing the OP can do is a review the company on EBay, explain why the review is so crappy.

Yea i have a friend that is a professional photographer (on the side) he posted his pics to facebook to share with friends. Someone must have re-posted and got into the hands of the wrong person. My fiend found some of his pics being sold for big money on other sites.
