So my boys 97 T4R, rear lift door wont open. I have tried the handle, the key. I have tried jarring the door. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this. I can't even open it to troubleshoot it. Thanks in advance.:notsure:

I looked if there was a way I could remove the panel. I don't see a way I can take it off to get to the moving parts. Here in a little while I am going to go get a Haynes manual because the Chilton doesn't have anything about the latch mechanism. I am stumped.

You might have to get to the lock from the inside. Not sure if that's even possible to remove the trim with the door closed. The idea is to get to the lock and somehow unlock it. Here is the diagram. I hope that helps.

This beer is making think creatively though!
Dremel, a hole and if needed a bigger hole, then go to the pull and pay for a new panel.

Thank you kindly, sir. His Chilton doesn't even have that. I need to have the hatch open to remove the panel. I'm hoping the Haynes has something.

Have you tried and spray some WD40 inside the lock cylinder?

Yes sir, I even put a socket over the lock and gave it a couple of taps with a rubber mallet, trying to jar it loose.
