    Changed the Title to my name...Got Bilstein 6112's & rears on the way. Listenin to BAMufflers on U-Tube, trying to decide which 1 I want. D/S pillar grab-handle inbound..
    Got mine in today & I'm loving it!! Was very easy to install & looks like it's always been there. BTW, the Sparksparts kit comes with the additional required bolt & clip-nut, no additional parts required, 1-stop buy & install!!

    Install question... Do you all have a little bit of side to side wiggle when you give it a yank back and forth. It's not much, and definitely sturdy, but comparing to the OEM passenger side, there is a bit more give. I've screwed up too many things in my life by over-tightening, I was hoping to get some feedback before messing another "simple" install.

    I did that and had issues with the handle coming loose i ended up useing a 1/4 20 rivnut and much happier

    I just bought the trim piece and handle from my local Toyota dealer (no extra bolt and clip-on nut). I have boxes and boxes of various metric hardware due to my several decades of Japanese motorcycle ownership. I dug around and found a metric M6 clip-on nut and two M6 flanged bolts the same length as the one that held on the factory trim strip. All metric, we're good. Monk would be proud of me (old TV show).

    I've been driving the truck for a year and a half w/o the handle. Now that it's there, it is noticeable so it will take a little bit of getting used to.

    OK, lmao...

    I just posted to an old thread, but for a good reason.
    I'm not calling out any names or aliases or whatever, just here me out!!!

    DON'T USE 1/4"x20 !!! (Why would you ???)

    FASTENAL has M6x1.0 fine thread extruded u-nuts (clips) AND stainless steel m6x1.0 bolts, AND 8.8 grade bolts [x10mm heads], HOME DEPOT even has 8.8 grade m6x1.0 shouldered bolts / zinc plated, and m6x1.0 bolts with 10mm heads (The "correct" size for the vehicle).

    The M6x1.0 extruded u-nuts / clips from Fastenal have a long thread catch and are shorter in clip length than this 1/4x20 crap everybody keeps using.

    *** THE REASON FOR THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT *** The longer the clip (u-nut), the more it comes into contact with the side curtain airbag. (BTW, no pics, but with my m6 (6mm) parts, I also used a small 2"x2" square of felt laying behind the clip just to be safe)... Also, 1/4-20 is not the "correct" size !


    But seriously people, you can order the "more correct" stuff online or get it locally for just a couple of bucks. - Replace them both, so they match, they are the same size, and are the "correct" size ... Keep the original bolt with your original trim...

    M6x1.0 (Fastenal and/or Home Depot) [6mm by 1.0 pitch, 10mm heads]



    P.S. - The only reason I joined was to bump this old post. This needs to be put out there. Why people think 1/4x20 is the ONLY way to do this is just beyond my thinking, and not correct('ish)... Sure, it works. But come on!

    Say what you want to, flame me, whatever.
    People, I want to help also. Use m6x1.0 ...

    Ohh yeah, about the install :) ... Perfect. Thank you for the thread, and note that the wire notch was required... As a note, this is VERY SOFT plastic. I cut mine cleanly with shears, any burrs can be cleanly knocked down with a lighter (from the back) and pressing the lighter against the plastic to smooth it. Very nice.



    I have a new Tundra now so I WILL be back !
