I don't want to get rid of my stock HU. I have a platinum CM with JBL. My audio install knowledge is not great but did some before about 20 years ago so I am not a fresh beginner but for sure not an expert.
Has anyone used Taco Tunes, Tech12 volt or another pnp?
I am curious if the Taco Tunes 1b is sufficient, but the SQ1 looks like a major upgrade with the 2 amps and recurve. I like the 2 10s idea. I don't need crazy sound but I do enjoy music with a little thump. I am about to buy something and considering installing myself unless you guys think it is a lot more difficult than it is made out to be.
    Thanks for helping...

Another vote for tech12volt, and like you limited install experience from 20years ago. His install sheet seems pretty straight forward to me. Plenty of youtube videos to help with removing panels/trim/seats, I bought a cheap kit off Amazon for removing trim without scratching the hell out of the plastic. Highly recommend bc the interior of these trucks scratch if you look at them funny. Im just waiting on my soundskins to come in before I install so I only have to remove the panels and seats once (mainly from a lack of free time than difficulty) I went with a similar JL set up as some of the build threads on here have.

Great idea! Thank you!!! The JL stuff look awesome. I am looking to spend $1500ish and the JL stealth box is $1100. Just don’t have the funds rights now.

My budget was similar and I got all this from tech12volt: a custom ported sub box, 2 JL 10w1's, 4 JL C2650's, 5 channel JL amp, JL Bass knob, amp power wiring kit, wiring harnesses for door speakers and factory amp so no cutting any wires for install and I am keeping the oem head unit, and speaker mounts for all 4 doors...Its your money but I couldn't justify sinking $1100 into just the subs alone when I could get all this and it fit my budget. Just email James and tell him what you are looking for and how much you want to spend and he'll get you a quote in about a day.

I got all my JL speakers, amp, Fix86, speaker adapters, and harness from James at tech12volts.

FyI - he may have found a module to allow the removal of the factory amp while keeping the head unit in JBL entune equipped trucks.

It will be difficult to keep that budget and replace the head unit. A sacrifice of either quality or equipment would have to occur. That said the head unit does suck and I plan to replace it in the future lol.

You don’t need a signal processor if you change the head unit so that offsets the price a bit.

I went through the same thought process. I ended up getting a "scratch/dent" from crutchfield for cheap. If i didn't i would have have James make me a box with the same jl subs that are in the stealth enclosure, and saved a good chunk of change.

Here's what i did. Figure out what gear you want, and shoot James an email and he will give you prices. be prepared for some short responses.

I'll tag @BOOMHAUER@TECH12VOLTS in case he still comes on here.

FYI the stealth enclosure uses JL 10w3's. Most of the build threads i have seen here with a cheaper box are using JL 10w1's. They are not the same. They are cheaper because they are $80 cheaper per speaker. the 3 handles almost double the wattage that the 1 handles and I'm pretty sure the 3 is dual voice coils and the 1 is a single.

You can buy the speakers and a custom box separate and get it cheaper then the stealth box. I think mine was around $700 with 2 JL 10w3's and a custom box at the shop i bought my equipment from.

I had james give me a quote on how much it would be for the same speakers (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610...MIr_To5cbB2gIVgq_sCh3EWwg7EAQYAiABEgIeqvD_BwE)
but in a box he made instead of the fiberglass stealth box. It was going to save a couple hundred bucks, but i already had the stealth.

Did you get the full size w3's in yours or is it the slimline?

TW3 are all thin line. There are no regular. They are the same ones that come in the stealth box.

But to answer your question yes they are great.

I just finished installing the taco tunes system 1b in my SR5 CM (non JBL) about 2 weeks ago. I am VERY pleased with the sound. the 2 10" Image Dynamics subwoofers are loud AF. I chose to go with ********* specifically because of the pnp and all the youtube videos showing exactly how to get the job done. I loved the fact that I didn't have to run any speaker wires from the amp to the door speakers (I hated doing this on my old Tacoma setup). once you tune the amps by following the youtube instructional video, the system sounds amazing, I sometimes feel that my rearview mirror will fall off from all the bass lol. one thing I didn't like about the package was that I thought that the modified replacement sail panels for the new tweeters were included (it's listed in the system 1b package on their website), however it was not received with my shipment. when I contacted their support team, they told me that it is not include, that they sell it separate. no biggie though, if you have a dremmel tool, you can easily modify your stock sail panels to mount the new tweeters (took me about 10 minutes for each side). they have a video on this as well. price wise, the $1599 sticker was worth it, BUT I had to pay a HUGE shipping cost. But I live in Hawaii, so we're used to paying absurd amounts of money for shipping large items. "paradise tax" I guess.
