Just documenting my experience- My radar assisted cruise as worked fine for the first 1600 miles. Yesterday while driving through some snow it kicked me out of radar cruise and flashed the "clean the sensor" warning. Shortly thereafter the snow stopped. At my next stop, I wiped off the badge area of the grill. Initially, when I got back in the vehicle the error was gone but a few miles later I was kicked out again- this time with no precip and a freshly cleaned badge....

Just something to keep an eye on I guess. I've generally avoided buying 1st generation vehicles to avoid this type of thing, but of course, this isn't a 1st year for this Tundra model, just the TSS....

I am still thinking the road conditions may be the culprit here. In my experience, after the snow stops, there is plenty of road grime that kicks up and covers the front end. Just my 2 cents

I just purchased last month and my vehicle hasn't been back to the dealer at all. I haven't received any recall letters. Yeah, I've read the other threads.

if you go to the toyota owners website and sign up for an account it will tell you if there's a pending recall for your VIN.

You may be right, of course, time will tell. I had driven out of the precip and the roads were pretty dry. I'm wondering if future models will relocate the radar to a location behind the windshield wipers.....

Not sure how accurate that is. I've never had any issues with the sensor, but I had the recall done at my 6-month service a few weeks ago. My Toyota Owners page still shows I have that recall outstanding, but then you click on service history and it says they performed the JOH update...

it's pretty accurate, if it says you have a pending update you probably do, if you click on it you should see the dealer reference Id, I have not done the JOH update yet and It shows as pending on my Toyota Owners page, but there was another one about a month ago which I did, called HOY, it's about some software update.

Just had my truck in for 15k service and the asst. Service manager was commenting on my mods. Then he told me that he has a 2018 and tried to relocate the sensor to a new grille. He is having issues with it and they have not been able to fix. He wanted a 2017 but he said they were gone when he bought his. I told him that I moved up my purchase date by 5 months to get a 2017. My reasons were lower cost. Dealer had a pretty 2018 black Sport. Problem with Sports is they have street tires in 275/55/20.
