Received the foam cannon I ordered from Amazon today and immediately filled it up with Chemical guys CW302 and foamed up the Tundra. Unbelievable!
If any of you are on the fence about ordering one of these things don’t be. I’ll use this every time I wash my truck. It looked like I’d covered the Tundra is about 3” of shaving cream the foam was so heavy! Didn’t get any pics this time because I was so anxious to use the cannon but I’ll post some the next time I use it.
This is the one I got:

I wonder if the ARB compressor will have enough ass to use on that cannon?

It doesn't work that way..............but if it did, i would go buy a arb compressor just for not having to pull out the pressure washer....that would be bad ass.

Do they have to have certain branded products in them opposed to something like Meguiars car soap? Stupid question, and probably is a yes.

Do you mean if the formulas are actually different between car shampoos? I 100% believe they do. I've switched to chemical guys citrus guard and gloss and it definitely stays "wet" looking much longer than meg's gold class that i used before.

So, do you spray the foam cannon, then use a MF scrubber to wash it, then hose it off?

Depends. If its especially filthy I’ll give a good powerful rinse before foam, then two bucket method following the foam cannon. Use a good quality MF or wool wash pad. Followed by a spritz of meguiars synthetic spray wax as I dry. That’s for routine washes for me

Are all foam guns like this or are there ones that you hookup to the hose? I am looking for something that would work well in the winter where I can do something like rinse, foam, then rinse again from a garden hose to get salt and crud off. I do have an air compressor. What psi does this one run at?

I have been looking at the hose end foam canons also, but I am not convinced they produce enough foam. I really do not want to lug out the pressure washer every time I wash my cars. I also try not to use the PW on cars after I removed paint from my wife's Camry's plastic bumper. That cost me a little.

Any suggestions for a foam gun for a garden hose? Or should I just not be lazy and get one for my Kärcher power washer?

I’m not sure what the point is? You still need to use a mitt with soap to really get it clean. I usually rinse thoroughly and then use a mitt with soap then rinse.
So will somebody please explain what the hell the foam cannon does that so mind blowing that the normal good hand wash doesn’t?

All I can tell is that it’s looks cool and may be fun to cover your ride in white foamy soap.

I must be missing something? Seems like a complete waste of money and a good car care scam. Shit, after they foam the damn vehicle they still do a normal wash process. Now if this canon magically removes swirls or something I’m in.
Somebody enlighten me to it’s usefullness..

It's supposed to help prevent swirls. The idea is that the foam layer helps "lift" particles that would normally sit on the paint as you begin to wash, particles that don't come off when you spray or wet down the car before washing.

Ok, I suppose that seems valid. But, with a really thorough rinse and your vehicle not being overly nasty I believe you get most if not all of the dirt off that will cause swirling.
I still think it gives a guy the warm and fuzzy seeing his vehicle all covered in white foamy soap and if that’s the case more power to you. I’m not judging at all but for me I see it as an expensive and time consuming step that in most cases in unnecessary.
But, I am no car care expert.

Yea, 20 bucks and some reasonably priced soap that would last I probably would enjoy seeing my truck covered up like that. I am a neat freak so this stuff would normally really get my attention but I’m not sure of its validity.

    Yea! Now that makes sense!
Seriously, I wish I could think of some shit like this. Have some attachment that blows out soap into a thick ass foam and have people grabbing it up and lining my pockets. People gobbled up the SHAM WOW for a year or two and made somebody rich.
    I’m always a step behind...
