Hi, new member here. Just bought a 2016 Tundra SR5 with the TRD Sport package. Any one know a good shop in the East Bay to get some customization done on my Tundra?
    Thanks,
    P

Hello, nothing too crazy, just TRD Pro it up. New grill and bumpers. Probably new wheels and tires. Not really interested in a lift. Maybe some extra lights. I'm new to this but have seen some great trucks on this forum and would like to join the club.

Hit up @Roman to get the TRDPro grill. I bought mine from him too. He's with Toyota.

Welcome to the forum. That's quite a list. Then those mods will inevitably lead to others, haha.

No, But I know a few folks there. We are a NAVLAP (NIST) 17025 accredited lab which is the best/highest certification you can get. The NIST boys (auditors) come down from Boulder every other year and do the over the shoulder checks on all of us to make sure we know what we are doing. I've been doing this for 37 years now and sometimes have to correct them on certain things during their audit. Mostly on uncertainty calculations relating to RF which they are somewhat weak on, IMHO, but NIST is #1 on the planet when it comes to frequency. (Among other things)

NIST time, (better than your watch, any ones for that matter since NIST is the primary time/freq god: NIST time: http://time.gov/

I did my graduate work at NIST in Gaithersburg. Great place to be. I always wanted to visit the boulder site as I'm a bit of a watch need and really wanted to see THE atomic clock.
    Cheers

The Boulder site used to have tours. There is a lot going there. Lots of projects. The auditor from NIST that verified our frequency traceability during last audit was from NIST's frequency department. No doubt one of the few freq science guru's working for NIST. I think he was from Pakistan or India. Our Aurora Lab's published uncertainty for frequency is +/- 3.7e -12 Hz. The auditor asked if that uncertainty was used on our calibration certificates. I replied yes, most of the time.......... Unless TUR's (test accuracy ratios) required me to take in account the previous 24 hr frequency offset found on NIST's frequency site. I had it bookmarked on my desk top. The auditor was extremely pleased. Way too pleased IMO. Was actually a little giddy. Said I was the first person/lab that he has personally audited to utilize the 24 hr NIST offset or at least know about it to finalize UNC calculations . I was the first person/lab not written up for that discrepancy. Not a major one. Actually I've had auditors who don't no a thing that I do. In this case it was totally the opposite. Especially after he tried to explain how NIST derives their frequency offset. Unfortunately I don't have a Doctorate in frequency physics/math so a lot of it went zooming over my head and on to space. heh heh You need to check out NIST Boulder and the Prius/Subaru Forestor/Volt capital of CO. There are plenty of nerds at Boulder.(making a lot of money and get to work with "world class" science. Was pretty much a nerd myself back in the day.

Chemists, mathematicians, you name it, are in high demand, especially for space exploration, and not to mention military needs. (lets not leave out the 99% of our own oceans that's not explored yet. I used to go to Astro Aerospace for onsite calibration near Santa Barbara. Full bunny suit getup. Everything they made went up to space , hence the need for sterilization. I got to see the actual ramps that the Sojourner used that are now on Mars: [IMG]

The ramps can be seen on the left and right. There are three. Only two are in the picture. I also got to see some antennas used on the same project. Pretty much the size of a 35mm film canister. Apply a low current, maybe a millisecond pulse, Voila, a 15 to 20 ft coiled copper antenna would shoot out. Very cool. That's why I love my job. You get to see some pretty amazing things and meet amazing individuals (nerds like me). No need to retire. We currently have a calibration contract with University of Colorado space science unit in Boulder. LASP. Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. We also have a cool contract with http://www.neonscience.org/. Interviewed twice with them, but always wrong place. First time was offered a position but funding was cut. Second time was a Skype interview when I was in AK. Was actually offered a position again, but I had to finish my obligation that I committed to in Anchorage. The NEON folks respected my loyalty to finish what I started but couldn't hold the position for 2 to 3 more months. They now need a remote site project manager based out of Fairbanks, AK to lead the installation crew for their various climate sensors. The position has been available for some time now. Tempted to bite the bullet and offer my expertise to get the job done, but I left AK to be back here in CO. Not an easy choice but not getting any younger either. I'm very comfy with what I'm doing now. But I hate comfy. I need the constant challenge.. Hmm.............

I'm in private industry now. Oil, actually. It's an interesting challenge and very rewarding. Made my advisor mad as he had hopes of go to NOAA or JPL, but now after a few short years I make more than him :)

You have a great degree which gives you a lot of options in your favor. JPL would be cool but sometimes you have to wait years to see the fruits of your labor.
