DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford is recalling about 350,000 trucks and SUVs in the U.S., Canada and Mexico because they might be in a different gear than the one shown on the shift indicator.

The recall covers the 2018 F-150 pickup and Expedition large SUV with 10-speed automatic transmissions.

Also covered are 2018 F-650 and F-750 trucks with six-speed transmissions. The F-150 is the top-selling vehicle in the U.S.

Ford said that on some vehicles, a clip that locks the gear shift cable to the transmission might come loose.

The company says a driver might be able to shift into park and remove the key while the transmission is in another gear, allowing unintended movement. That can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford said it knows of one crash and one injury due to the problem.

Owners will be notified the week of April 16. Dealers will make sure the clip was installed correctly and secure it if needed.

My friend works for a Ford dealership and she gave me shit (in a friendly way) when I got my truck. I like to occasionally jab at her for recalls. This one will be used

You should stop by an give her some wheel chocks so her Ford won't roll away....Actually all Ford trucks should come with a pair. Cheap way for Ford to fix it....upload_2018-4-6_16-23-21.jpg

Damn, can't get their shit together huh....i meant parked
The new Expeditions have the knob shifter, wouldn't it means that it's a shift by wire instead of the old school cables and linkage?

I kinda wanna go troll the local Ford dealerships with a few dozen sets of chocks. Just walk through the lot, chocking the F150's. See how long until they say something. :boink: :stirthepot:

Do it. They won't notice you; they're entirely too busy managing the recalls to pay attention to the lot.

Nah. Pretty sure they'd notice me. Mainly because I caused a bit of a scene the last time I was at the one dealership...

So the only way to get Ford's running is when they aren't in use?

Sorry. No pics. But imagine a stocky, 5'6" guy about the shape of a fire hydrant yelling at the service guy to get his manager out there tout suite and threatening to go to the news media, social media, Ford corporate and a lawyer in order to spread the word that their dealership is the 2nd most corrupt dealership in the country and that every Ford employee is a crook, a liar, a thief and their families should be ashamed to be related to such bottom feeding, good for nothing scumbags.

    Yeah....they'll remember me.

Come to think of it, so will the 1st most corrupt dealership in the country...

Typical Ford, not even able to identify the real issue. It’s like an old dog, just trying to run off and die alone peacefully. No mechanic can fix that crap.

Yeah, but "some" Tundra owner's are intelligent enough to use the PARK BRAKE:devil:

Well, I did say SOME Tundra owner's. I launch and retrieve my boat enough to appreciate having the option, to not brutalize the Park-Cog on my transmission. Even if it isn't applied properly, that is, (while on the service brake and before shifting into Park) it's certainly an added safety measure, worthy of the tiny bit of effort it takes.
