2018 Interior plastic issues

I Bought a 2018 tundra double cab a few weeks ago that currently has 500 miles on it . I was wiping down the interior and noticed this white line that I can't get off. Im currently waiting to hear back from the dealer. Anyone else have an issue like this?

 

not sure this is an issue with the plastic or from the factory. Looks like a mark that was left by some object or a smear of some sort.

 

Yea I dunno, this is on the passenger door and only been rode in twice since Ive had it. It's almost like the black paint is flaking , I made it worse by trying to rub it off. There's also a few other spots similar on the back door panel.I have the worst luck with vehicles

I would say that is a flaw from the factory. It should be replaced under warranty.

 

Couple threads on the green spots for 14-16 models. Something up with the dye in the plastic. Think a couple guys were able to get them replaced.

Try vaseline

 

Toyota has shitty plastics for interior pieces. They scratch just looking at them and you'll also get the green spots on any stress areas such as door pockets if you put too much stuff in them. I have a 14' and every damn door is scratched up and has green spots all over them. Toyota is by far the worst interior plastics I've ever had in a vehicle.

 

I agree , wife has a 4runner with same issues , mainly with the silver painted plastic , it's 4months old got little scratches everywhere. And I'm pretty sure my tundra will look like that in a few months. Toyota should fix this, I mean the reason most buy a Toyota is to avoid things like this right??But at least the steering wheels aren't falling off like the Ford's.

 

If it’s a scratch, heat gun will blend it back in. Not sure if it will blend the green patches.

 

That’s a stress mark. If you look behind it you’ll see the divider for the door pocket is right there. The other white marks that people posted are scratches. Our interior scratches easily. Better than cracking like a dodge lol

 

Oh the humanity... might as well just salvage it

 

Keep a coat of 303 aerospace protectant or waxaddict on it. It should help it from scratching as easily.

 

Same thing on my passenger rear on mine

 

I’ll see what my dealer says when I take it in for my next oil change.

All those marks can be fixed for the most part the one i found the dealer has a dye that will take care of it i could not tell where it was when i got it back

Hate to say it, but this seems to be a Tundra thing . . . the interior pieces show wear and scratches pretty easily. That said, they seem to hold up long-term better than others.

 

That is very true they do hold up I'll quote with somebody said before in an earlier post at least it ain't a freaking Dodge

I had the same scratch mark on my left front door. Called the 800# and I complained about it. And they replaced the door panel under warranty.

Hmmm! Do you all se the change in texture? Looks like the heat left the area glossy or discolored.

 

There’s a fine balance. I did it the other day, it removed green spots and fixed most scratches. It gets glossy but what the vid doesn’t show is it somehow regains most of its texture.

Too long/hot and it dries it out, the texture loss may be irreversible, and it can also turn whitish. Applying UV protectant or Vaseline rehydrates it and turns it black again. The trick is to stop heating or use less heat if it starts getting glossy.

I haven’t tried it, for deep scratches a toothpick worth of black ShoeGoo can probably be blended in first. I repaired black leather with it before in another vehicle.
