Of course there is! Just not the flat open Cityscape kind. Just trying to find positives of the city trip. Dr. visits for the Mrs.

No, Sir. I have not taken any courses with them nor have I heard about em. Sorry I have no info for you. But does sound like a great course. Just make sure instructors are first responders and have field experience.

did a little digging and found some classes offered by NOLS. not sure why i didn't just start there first. plus, there are other possibilities with them besides medical. they have a bunch of WFR courses lined up for this year at UC Boulder and School of Mines. both are pretty convenient for me. now, i just need to find 10 days for the class or, do i say f it and spend a month in wyoming for their WEMT?

I got my WEMT through WIlderness Medicine Institute when I worked for NOLS in ‘03. At least I think that’s who taught it

I’m not front range and I’ve never worked with those folks, so maybe I’m out of line by responding, but I’ll offer this:

I’d recommend taking a course that makes you eligible to become a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (new, fancy term for FR). Recertification through National Registry is easier (and much less expensive) than NOLS/WMI/WMA since it’s just continuing education that you can get from just about any source (online, OTJ with higher qualified folks, etc). The certification process is a little more arduous (practicals and a formal exam at a testing center), but it’s easier to maintain in the long run.

Just my $.02. Good luck finding something that fits your needs.

thanks for the input. i'm going to go with a NOLS class. from their website, it doesn't look like they're part of the national registry (for WFR or WEMT) but they have the most local class offerings. i just need to find the 10 days to do it. i'd really like to be able to come up with the month for the WEMT then go on for full medic like i had planned 12 years ago. part of me feels that at 45 i might be to old for this now but, we'll see.
