I bought a 27 ft travel trailer 6 yrs ago to live in while I built my log home. A buddy towed it up here with his F350, because at the time I had a Tacoma, and that just didn’t cut it.

Now I want to pull it with my new 2018 Tundra CrewMax, with towing package. I hooked it up and drove down my drive and back and the setup is far from level. Without the trailer, my hitch sits at 17 inches. When hooked up, it is only 12 inches off the ground.
When hooked up, the trailer is 15 inches from ground in front and 28 inches in the rear.
I need to get the rear of the truck to ride at least 5-6 inches higher when hooked up.

I’m a novice at towing. What do I need?

The trailer weighs 5400 empty and the hitch weight is suppose to be 496 lbs.

Not yet. I was going to get one this week. I can see where that would help in handling, but it wont affect sag will it?

Yes the WDHitch will allow you to level (or nearly) both trailer and truck if correctly set up

You will definitely want this. I towed a 7200lb trailer from Colorado to Arizona with on a 4" drop. Danimal's got you hooked up.

I'm towing a 7200+lb travel trailer with a 650+lb tongue weight on a Curt TruTrack WD hitch. Everything is perfectly level.

It kicks weight to the front. Start there and see how she sits.

Awesome. Thanks to all. This forum rocks.
I’ll get the WDhitch and see how that does first. My scheduled trip in not until June, so I have time.

Some really great advice from the people that actually tow heavier loads.

You should only need a WDH that is properly set up. Only thing I will add is to make sure you can back up with the WDH you purchase. Not all hitches you can, and trust me, it sucks disconnecting every time or causing damage to the trailer.

    Enjoy and safe travels!

This one is great! It’s a WDH and sway control!
Love mine, my truck pulls my trailer with ease!

Seriously. I just did a 1,000 trip to San Luis Obispo and only had to get gas in CA once.

Last week I got air bags and today I picked up my WD hitch. Can’t wait to get it hooked up and try it.

    None, yet....
I 2nd the equalizer. I have this on my car hauler. I tow my crawler on my 24ft car hauler and it’s about an 8-9k combined load, with twin 5k axles.

Another thing that is critical is tongue weight. Look into investing on a scale if your load will change often. Mine does, whenever I tow random things, and investing the $150 into a scale is well worth the investment to prevent sway or other issues.

Here is the one I use: eTrailer scale

Lots of good info on here. I also had sagging issues and was directed towards a WDH on here.

My camper sits low, and really makes my truck squat. Thinking of lifting my camper a little. The wd hitch arms ride to low for it. My truck seems to have a saggy ass

    Edit:
not to hyjack anyones thread, but what would I need to cure the saggy ass? I dont need any more height

What are the steps to setting up your WDH? Do you need to measure everything first? Gonna be putting one on this weekend and would want it to work correct since I just got it..

Yeah bro. Been busy myself . Come on here for the knowledge these days. Thanx guys ᕙ(ツ)ᕗ

I got a Equalizer set up. I dont know shit about towing besides my tiny jet skis. So I got this set up now for this Little trailer I got recently and almost died coming back from California in my ladies Chevy traverse. Hit a bump and the thing was swinging all over the place. Thought it was over
