CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m more than a little jealous of the size of your shop... mine is my two car garage... the Subaru and Tundra sleep outside. Enjoy all your free time!!!

Wasn't really a road per se. There was an old telegraph line that ran along the beach we'd follow that a bit and head up. They used to allow sand drags back in the day.

I really need to look at these pole buildings in more detail. Spent some time on the website, l need to do cost comparisons.

Yeah I am not sure which type will pencil out better. I am no expert by any means but in my experience it seems that industrial buildings around here are more steel buildings and rural areas use pole buildings for barns, shops and I guess even housing. I would assume that has a lot to do with the city and state fire code. I used to install bulk cryogenic systems and some of the issues we would run into in city limits were insane.

I know personally we are looking into building a steel frame house if we can get a couple of acres just out of town. But thankfully the local school distract just purchased a huge plot of land right in the general area we were looking and that will be home to the new high school. Couple that with the local residents voting not to expand the city limits, and the shortage of housing already I am assuming that land prices are going to sky rocket even more. So that may just be a dream.

    Congratulations Man.

My lovely wife of 42 years retired 3 years ago.
Maybe I'll do that someday too.. but for right now I'm still enjoying my work very much & look forward to working everyday.
I think I mentioned it before, I too am a const. superintendent, the company I work for, goes into nicer established neighborhoods in Seattle & tears down older homes & we rebuild new multi million dollar homes. This gig is lower production but high quality + I get do some of the wood work.. just to keep myself busy that helps feed my hands-on carpentry passion.

    Happy for you

Sounds like an awesome shop you have planned.
We will have to do a NW Tundra's get together once your settled in.. I'm only about 4 hours north.

Any of the guys in the Portland area have a good place to recommend for a regear? It’s going to be new tire time this summer or fall and I want to get the gears done as well. I have used 4wp in the past but the one on 82nd used to have some :tinfoilhat: working there so I’m hesitant about going back. I was thinking maybe Superior out in Gresham but they sub that out.

Gresham 4wd maybe? I have a co-worker who used Hi-Torque performance for his truck stuff, maybe try them?

Sure if you are talking to them already. Maybe I can get a couple recommendations.

Gresham 4wd is a good idea. I haven’t talked to those guys since they were in their old spot like 15 years ago. I live on the other side of town but sometimes work in Gresham. My brother has had a bunch of trucks done by Superior but until I got my motorcycle leaving my truck over here for a few days couldn’t happen. I haven’t heard of Hi-Torque so I’m going to look them up.

    Gresham= Superior Offroad.
Newberg= Metal Tech Fab... I think this is what they are called. I found them on accident as a vendor of Icon. I have never dealt with them though. They are a Toyota Specialist.
Portland has a few shops but I personally stay away from the 4wp. Just my personal opinion but I’m holding a grudge from a screw up they did a long time ago. They may be better now... I don’t know.

What did you end up getting?

Thanks, I'll give them a shout. Definitely not going with 4WP, I have heard too many horror stories.

I'm getting Kings front and rear, OME Dakar leafs and Camburg UCA's. :burnrubber:

You weren’t kidding that is a bunch of shiny stuff!! I was pretty close to getting some new Icon coilovers and uca’s also. But Toyota was able to get my alignment in so now I’m gonna wait till I have the funds instead of throwing it on the CC. Maybe I’ll get this regear done first.

Edit: that 4wp store hired this idiot I went to high school with. I took my F250 in there to get some HID’s troubleshot for not turning on. I was leaving for Afghanistan in a couple days and wanted them fixed before I left. Well that no talent ass clown broke my headlight switch out of the dash and then they tried to charge me $95 dollars or whatever the shop rate was. I got extremely pissed and called my 4wp store in San Diego. Luckily I got the manager down there to talk to these idiots and this store didn’t charge me. Once back in SD they bought me a new switch and fixed my lights. Turns out it was a simple fuse that had blown. That store had it fixed in about 5 minutes. So yeah I will never go back to this 4wp for anything.

Anyone in Portland have a midtravel set up with Kings/Icon/Fox/ADS? I'd like to get some seat time (as a passenger, of course) before deciding what brand shock to get.
