And typically, they announce major truck releases at the Chicago Auto Show and it was just the Pro announcement. I would agree with Beast.

Really a meaningless article....not a lot of info, just guesses and innuendo.

Anyway, I hope the next iteration Tundra will have a little better MPG and a more modern interior (push start, more softer materials, updated premium stereo). Keep the 5.7 and improve on it and put an 8-speed behind it. Do all that I'll get a new Platinum.

I honestly dont mind the key. The push start is great my wife Lexus has one. Problem which i find very annoying when you remote start your car. Once you open your door the car shuts off doesnt happen with a keyed vehicle. I live in the North East you need a remote start.
As for the radio it would be nice to have more features but sometimes the more tech you have the more problems can happen look at our iphones and samsungs

Hope it's not as 'improved' as the Tacoma.

Exactly what I was thinking...the “improved” Tacoma I had was awful. Uncomfortable, lacking in power and a transmission that would constantly hunt for the right gear but never find it. Here’s hoping they learned their lesson with the latest Tacoma revamp.

My biggest fear is the transmission hunting if they go to a new 8 speed or higher. I also fell victim to the 2016 Tacoma transmission issues. The truck had power but the transmission wouldn't let you use it and then it was constantly switching gears back and forth. I loved everything else about it though and almost kept it as it was a fully loaded TRD Offroad crewcab. I was going to tune it through Orange Virus to solve the issues but the wife asked if I wanted to get something bigger to take on trips so of course jumped on buying a Crewmax Tundra. Hopefully I'll keep this truck for a long time. I looked at the Titans and really liked some of the features but read thier 7 speed was having hunting issues as well.

The only change that I would really want to see is 8 speed or more tranny .....they need to keep to V8 .....all the other sensing b.s. for me can go away

I had a Ram 1500 with the ZF 8-speed. Great transmission, super smooth and no hunting.

That is a Toyota and Lexus thing that the engine shuts off when you remote start and open the door. Has nothing to do with the push start, my Ford or Ram didn't do it.

Yes I know some companies have pulled it off and I'm sure Toyota could release a great 8-10 speed transmission and they probably will. However, after screwing up the Tacoma I just fear they will drop the ball on programming but only time will tell.

Curious why you dumped the RAM? A Rebel was on my list while looking at the Tundra I ended up with.

I really only have TWO things on my wish list for the next gen Tundra WHENEVER that may be (FWIW, I doubt it will be MY2019). 1) CM with a 6.5' bed & 2) rear e-locker option. I'm sure they are going to improve other things, but my 2017 Pro would be absolutely perfect with those two items.

EDIT - ...well, and LED headlights... and F + R proximity sensors... but that's it, HA

2000-2006 1st gen (technically this isn't a 1st gen if you count the T-100 as the 1st gen large truck from Toyota)
    2007-current 2nd-gen

depends on the vehicle on when the model gets a new gen.

camry is around 5 yrs, others are 7yrs, but the BoF suv/trucks use to be at 7yrs, but the last gen has been pushed out to 10yrs for the Tacoma and now we are at 12 yrs on the tundra, 4runner current 5the gen came out in 2009.

mid cycle refreshes don't count as a generation change.

Sold it because it didn't have adaptive cruise, BSM or LED headlights. Other then that it was a nice truck and the 2019 Ram sure looks tempting at a Laramie or above equipment level, especially once they have the Hemi with e-torque available. I had several Rams (1500 and 2500) and really never had any issues (unlike with my F-150s).

    I'd be out on that. Maybe I'm old school, but I want a v8 that's always a v8 . Not cutting back to 6, 4, 2 or 1(dodge, gm). Plus one that doesn't die at a stop sign/red light (f150).
