Is it just me or does anyone else wish they didn't use carpet on the floors of these trucks? I'd be happy with a good old vinyl floor. It's a truck and we all end up spending hundreds to protect the carpet with as much vinyl as we can. It may be better for sound but it's a pain to clean and keep clean.

Not sure what vintage you are, but back in the day, all trucks were plastic floor mats and after wheeling or mudding you hosed out the truck floor. If you wanted carpet, you got a scrap and cut it to fit.

Yep you’re right! This pampered yuppie millinial, be comfy thing has gotten outta hand!

My brother inherited a super clean 95 Chevy 1500 w/t 2wd with 28k miles on the clock, it had a plastic floor and I love it. When I was a kid I recall every truck habing vinyl floors. I don't see a new for carpet at all. I think it's an option now on some Tacomas

I wish we could get vinyl. My company gm has vinyl. I added it as an option. I’ve often thought about taking the factory carpet out of the truck and somehow shaving the ‘shag’ off the carpet and spraying it with bedliner. If anyone has a solid idea on how to shave the carpet I’m willing to try it out and share my feedback haha

It's not even good carpeting. They've put in the cheapest, crappiest carpet they could find. Go ahead and make a rubber floor mat that is better than the Husky/Weathertech vinyloleum. Something durable and tough. The rubber floor mats Toyota supplies aren't bad, they simply don't cover anything important. Carpeting in these vehicles is only good for sound absorbing, collecting lint, dirt and pet hair.

I'm with everyone here. I would have got vinyl flooring if it was an option. I hate dealing with cleaning the carpet.

The SR comes with a vinyl floor. Shouldnt be to hard to swap but I don't think they make an SR crewmax.

If you like rubber floor, black door handles, black bumpers (front and rear), black grille surround, black grille insert, and white color, the work truck package should be enticing.

Carpet can be a PITA but Toyota's carpet is more like felt with cardboard backing. It is total crap.

Good carpet and floor mats I am OK with. I would take vinyl over Toyota's current carpet spec.

Not a bad way to go if you want to build it up. Gotta add intermittent wipers though.

Intermittent wipers are nice until you run out of washer fluid and your wipers scrape across your dirty dry windshield.

I'm just gonna go against the grain...I have a Platinum (like the OP) and enjoy all of the options... carpet...intermittent wipers...just don't let the washer fluid go dry...problem fixed.

I bought the Platinum model because I wanted all of the options and like the paint matched bumpers, grill surround, etc...if I didn't want the options, I would have bought a work truck. Sorry, I don't get the point of this thread guys.

How much of the carpet is exposed? Do you have floor mats to protect it? Most people including myself get floor mats that cover as much space as possible to prevent damage to carpet. With my mats there are only a few square inches of carpet exposed which makes it pointless, especially anywhere that it snows

And I also bought a platinum for the options, all of which I wanted. Except the sunroof but had to get it. But the carpet is useless and takes more work to cover and clean.

Nix on carpet. I'd have no problem reverting to vinyl floor like all TRUCKs used to be. Lots easier to hose everything out. What's the point of having carpet just to totally cover it with expensive floor mats??? Beyond me..

Yup, got floor mats, but not the wall to wall Weathertechs or Huskies plastic ones like most...I like the sound deadening of the carpet...I like my carpet...but I don't use it like a work truck either...just another opinion...
