Just curious. I hate to admit that I can barely get two years. I just traded the 7 plus for an iPhone X.
It’s got some cool new features but Jesus, a grand now for a smart phone.
I know I’m pissing money away so I’ll try to hang onto this one.

Yes, it is ridiculous what phones cost. I guess as long as people are willing to pay that much they will keep asking those prices.
I go about 3 years on my phones (get them from work, so it is free to me). My wife gets a new one every 2 years. She has the upgrade plan where she pays it off over two years and then trade it in on a new one. It cost her about $30 a month.

I got the iPhone X the day it came out. I wanted it for the good video/screen resolution, and the fact that it had a bigger screen, yet a smaller footprint in my pocket than my 6+ in an otterbox did. Traded the 6+ in and got $350 off the X, so a WIN WIN IMO.
Edit: Had the 6+ for over 2 years, and plan on keeping the X for a while, got the 256GB.

Yea, I got 350 for the 7+ but spread out over 24 months which is total bullshit since I owned it outright. I argued it and gave up.
So far I’m liking the X for all the reasons you mentioned plus the wireless charging next to my bed is awesome.

Did you get the insurance plan? I never do but I’m considering the Verizon this time.

I did, and usually do. Especially with the X being a glass phone, and the 256 being $1150. Insurance has saved me in the past, but didn't use it one time with the 6+, but being $1150, I figured I better. I'm sure some think I'm dumb for getting it, but piece of mind works for me.

I have better luck with cell phones than most... I retired my '09 3G S iPhone with a used 5 S last year. The old one still works, but I wanted a newer camera. No insurance on either of them.

    Too many to list
I have an iPhone 7which I used to upgrade whenever a new one comes out.
Was only $30 a month as well but my payments never stopped. Kept rolling into a new one.

I finally stopped. Ain’t worth it. The new tech economy doesn’t want u to buy anything now. It’s more like subscription service that never seems to end.

$30/$50/$199 a month seems low but apparently adds up to $2,000 a month.

I have an iPhone 6S that I’ve had for a few years. I don’t plan to buy another phone until this one simply breaks.

Did Verizon spread your 350 out like that?? Seems odd....

I run an AT&T store and we credit the 350 that day.

They sure did and I argued for 20 minutes how BS that is. They said ALL major carriers are doing it. Apparently that is not correct.

Sure isn’t. We place the money as a store credit to cover taxes on new phone and then apply the remainder towards cost of new phone

I usually upgrade mine after I drop it down a fishing hole while ice fishing or after the screen is so cracked it's unreadable. :D

I’ve had my 6s for about 2 1/2 Years now. Works great, no plans on upgrading anytime soon. I did replace the battery about a month ago, like brand new again. Battery was $20 off Amazon. Easy to change out.
He’ll i still have my iPhone 4. It’s in great shape, just wouldn’t run new software anymore.
My son has a huywei or something like that he picked up in Singapore. It blows the iPhone away.

2 years if the phone doesn't have any major faults (example: iPhone 6s, Galaxy S8+), 1 or less if it does (example: OnePlus One, Galaxy S7 Edge)

sometimes good trade in deals pop up, so that triggers me to upgrade sooner

Today I have to go out and get a new phone. My wife being the clean freak she is decided to wash hers with her laundry. She can get my current 6S that I’m typing on right meow.

I want the iPhone SE. I just don’t like a big phone. So I get to grace the Genius Bar today. Lucky me. There goes 449.00 since I need the 128G.

    The cost seems atrocious, but....

    GPS unit 200.00
    Flashlight 25.00
GPD hand held Windows PC 395.00
    Flip phone, no data 50.00
    12mp Camera 130.00

So right there we are in about 780.00 without the combined convenience. I agree, it makes me sick though.

I do not pay for insurance via the carrier. I either pay through USAA or do an Apple Care package for 99.99 for 2 years.

not a bad reason to upgrade to the 8, which should survive a wash cycle

    Good to hear.

I can never seem to keep a factory phone alive. The refurbished ones I get usually last longer for some reason? I’m wondering if it is the big protective cases I put on them?

Now I’m going to lose my wireless charging in my truck, which sucks. However, I’m going to switch over to rechargeable battery packs anyway and just use the inverter in the truck to charge them.

It's possible - I usually get 3-4 years out of my phones and don't use any protective cases. Anything longer and the phone runs like a POS

Ok, since you’re going today then heed my advice....don’t be picky about which one, don’t get your heart set on an SE. be open and go with the BOGO. It’s always the best deal. Tomorrow is the last day of the 50% off of the Galaxy s9. It’s a wicked badass phone and I too have iPhone. You can get it for about $389 right now depending on their requirements. Trust me, be open to “which” phones are on promotion and it’s a steal!! If you do get a new iPhone then a 5th gen iPad is only .99!!!

My recommendation is always to jump through hoops and get the promotional items no matter if you have to change phone numbers. You can always call forward until the necessary people have your new number

By the way, the galaxy deal isn’t even BOGO

Every 2 years, I usually skip the iPhone “S” version but wanted the X for the bright OLED display and 4K 60fps video recording. I also jailbreak all my iPhones to customize them. Simple hacks like 5 icons across and face unlock (no need to swipe/touch).

Thanks Mark. I looked at the S9. I agree it’s BA. Unfortunately with TMobile they keep the 32G phones on hand only. However, these can be upgraded to stupid high memory right?

I was considering USAA but the reviews I was reading are saying the company they contract through suck. I have no personal experience though.
