    Hello All,
Quick question regarding tonneau covers on 3rd gen tundras. I don't have the bed rails on my truck bed, but I want to install a tonneau cover on my bed. How can this be done? Will there be drilling involved? Is there any place that can install a tonneau cover on a truck bed without the bed rails?

There are retractable covers and trifold covers that can be installed without drilling. The deck rail system is not needed for tonneau covers and many covers have install options available for trucks with and without the deck rail. Without the deck rail, the covers use clamps that attach the tracks to the lip of the bedrail.

Look at Bakflip G2 or Mx4

I've got a G2 and no drilling required.

Oh thanks man. I’ll definitely look into those. Any idea on how much tonneau covers go for and what’s the best online place to get them?

I paid $699 OTD from svcustoms for my G2, the Mx4 is $100-150 more and the main difference is the gasket on the back (g2 you need to lift the lid before closing the tailgate, mx4 you can close the tailgate with the lid down).

With the G2 do you need to lift the lid to open the tailgate as well?

G2 you need to lift the lid before closing the tailgate
Mx4 you can close the tailgate with the lid down.

I think there might be a different finish (maybe a "premium finish") on the mx4, but not sure. i got used to just lifting the lid before closing the gate.

Backflip MX4 on my 2018 Tundra. It's a VERY nice cover. It clamps on so there are no holes drilled in the bed.

Not having the rail system makes it actually easier to install a bed cover because it isn't in the way of the clamps. Also, there are websites (either realtruck.com or autoanything.com) which have install and feature presentation for most of the covers they sell.

I have a Mx4 on ine and really like it, I had it on my previous truck as well. If you want a roll-up cover I would suggest the Truxedo LowPro QT, I had several of them; pricey but worth it in my opinion.

I put a Peragon on my truck. All aluminum. Retracts like an accordian.
It works great and I installed it with the quick clamps they sell. No drilling.

$749 and i think they give deals (free accessories)for forum members.

    Law Enforcement gets $100 off.

You may be able to get a deal if you call them.

I have the Bakflip MX4 and well worth the investment. If you purchase online and ask for a discount they will give it to you and free shipping.

I'm new here but one of the best additions to my truck is the Pro X15 tonneau cover from Truxedo. It's a soft cover but works with the bed rails and has a very low profile. It's not the traditional vinyl either - more like a convertible top. I really like it!
