A/C Seat Filters?

What are yall's thoughts on the cooled seats? I haven't really used them too much yet but their performance seems a little disappointing... Is there a filter which requires changing under the seat which can improve air flow or is it just how Toyota designed it?

 

I haven't noticed a filter but my ball coolers work well, I'll admit they are not as good as my buddies F150 tho.

 

I'm glad you brought that up. Our Expedition has those and worked a lot better than on my truck....

 

There is no filter that I'm aware of.

I have a '16 SR5 now but on my old '11 Platinum I had black leather and live in Florida. Honestly, if the temp was above 85 (most of the summer) I could never tell they were working. The interior just got so hot. I even had it at Toyota a number of times to verify they were working.

Perhaps they would have worked better with a lighter color leather. My buddies '14 F-250 the seats were night and day with the A/C seats (tan leather). His felt like true A/C seats whereas I thought mine felt like just a fan blowing. I wasn't impressed and therefore don't miss them when I went back to cloth seats.

I think this is probably spot on. Or the seat design plays a bigger factor.
I have noticed if I don't have the AC running it is just blowing air and the fan needs to be on high. They work well enough on a summer day but I'm not sure I'd let it be a deciding factor in a truck purchase.

 

I don't have them in my Toyota but had the cooled seats in my last three F-150's and my Ram. The F-150 seats didn't work as good as the seats in the Ram and I really didn't like any of them for two reasons, they feel like you pissed in your pants and it is hard to get dirt )i.e. crumbs) out of the perforation. I purposely bought a Limited because it does not have cooled seats.

 

Mine work well.put the ac in floor mode and let the fans suck up the cold air.

 

LS430 ventilated seats have a filter, my Tundra does not have ventilated seats but would assume they would use a similar filter. Replacing the filter will not improve cooling unless the filter is plugged.
Toyota/lexus ventilated seats do not work that well, as others have said it pulls air from the bottom of the seat, they do not have thermoelectric circuits to cool so you do not get peltier effect cooled air, just cabin temperature air

 

My wife’s Jeep seat coolers work well. The tundra ones are just a vent like others have said.

 

My 12 platinum had them and you really couldn't tell they were working in the summer. In laws Chevy has the cooled seats and they work very well. Have a limited now so it doesn't bug me since I don't have them anymore.
