Android Headunit

Would definitely do this upgrade . . . I just gotta have my auto-temp. Will be interested to hear if they make the fix.

Good news, i did talk to a tec from Phoenix this afternoon about things like HVAC bug, the oem lighting on the unit, and some other issues that would benefit the use of a Phoenix HU
He said he will try to join tundras.com so he can possibly answer some questions.

I've got a great deal for someone who wants an 12.1" Android Head unit now, and doesn't have to wait 1-2 months getting it from China. I was one of the lucky ones to experience no problems with my Head Unit. I decided to do a complete Audio and Video build to my Tundra and this unit isn't complete enough to run video to my headrest among other things. This Android is the 12.1" Silver Full HD screen 2+64GB Model # C8102 (RDS) As I've said I had no problems with the sound, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls, GPS, etc... I missed the last downloads from their Facebook page so you should do that.
I bought it for $550.00 during a group buy. And had to wait over a month to receive it. I'm asking $450 you pay for delivery. The box it came in is 20"x18"x9" and weight is 10lbs . I'd like someone who really wants one to enjoy it as much as I have as a relatively inexpensive purchase.

Sorry about the delay in response. I went away from the duty, and the girl we hired for the task was no good.

They said that with the board you provided and data gathered, they could not determine the difference; the difference must be from the signal from the car side. They need to come to the US to test and get data from truck. The have not provided a date yet. I will ask them if they will send the a/c board back or bring it when they come.

 

At least they are actively trying. Makes me feel better about getting the unit.

 

You mean...At least they say they are actively trying. Great job by 1971 to send in his unit! I'm disheartened that they couldn't find an easy fix. I'm not sure if they have the funds or man power to actually send someone to the US for research and fixes. Fingers still crossed. I have begun experimenting with rooting the "tablet" and reinstalling their custom software. Problems come up when you try to integrate toyota electronics with Android OS. All of the drivers and and code from the original software is simple enough but it's really tough to pull in AC settings. The Auto temp function is particularly tricky. The Tundra and cars in general still use "dumb" and outdated methods to control consoles. It really is amazing what Phoenix was able to accomplish with this so far, but I think they have hit a stopping point in progress until they update the hardware to support newer versions of Android.

 

Who's the manufacturer? Did it come with a manual?

i have an sr5 non-jbl radio, manual a/c controls. I ordered this unit and tried to get out of them what install parts I will need to put this in my truck to retain and use as much of the stock equipment and features as possible, gps antenna (acc-sat-t02?) steering wheel controls,(adapter or no) do I need wire harness to adapt this to my truck like most radios or does it come with all that I need already?

Is there a post in this thread that covers this? I don’t have the unit yet but would like to acquire the parts needed so I can install. Car audio install is not foreign to me as I used to do it for a living. But I do not know what this unit comes with or without.

 

It comes plug and play. Once you Hook it up you will retain steering wheel controls, they provide there GPS antenna but you can purchase an adapter so you can retain the factory one. No other harnesses are needed. That is a huge reason I like this. Yes it does had a few quirks but for 550 can't beat it. There are some install vidoes and a few things you can do to make sure your install goes seemless. You can search harold Miller tesla in YouTube and it will help you out

Why does my camera comes on when i start the engine and stays on? Must have been a setting i change now it is annoying and really disable my unit. Any ideas which setting could be related to this?

Has anyone had issues with sound only coming from one speaker ?

Just started the truck up the other day and only getting sound from the passenger side rear.

I haven't changed anything in months and when I go to the settings to adjust the sound I get "Unfortunately settings has stopped" error.

I have double and tripled checked all my connections but can't seem to find what's causing it

I was able to get it fixed by doing a reset on the HU.

 

Sounds like issues continue to pop up on this system.

 

Have you ever had an issue with your cell phone?

 

Never..... except when it bricks, freezes, touch screen stops working, buttons stop working, random reboots, and won't sync. Other then these few issues, it's been perfect

 

I had that issue first unplug the orange box if you are having problems accessing the advanced settings menu. 8861 to get into advanced settings and make sure the reverse from OBD is set to off.

Are you able to download any app from the Google Play store? What about software updates? Has the company pushed any updates?

 

Post #1213 was the last I had contact . I'm not able to use Google play either I use the Aptoid app
