This may sound strange but I have a 2017 TRD Off Road SR5 4x4 Double Cab.
The steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position is sticky to the touch.
I can clean it, put conditioner, anything and it becomes sticky again. I think the plastic is out gassing or something.
I was going to let the stealership know, but I just wanted to know if anyone has had or heard of anything like this.
    Thanks.

It’s a common problem when taking females for a ride in the Tundra, gets sticky everywhere

All kidding aside, I have absolutely no useful information

Very strange. Swap it out with a 1794 steering wheel. :)

My old 2007 GMC Sierra had sticky leather issue also. Right at 12 o’clock too. Mind you wasn’t plastic. I figured it was because it was old and worn out? Is that where you grip it steady?

No, also the truck only has 10K on it. It seems to be getting worse. I can see it melting during summer....lol

That's the thing it's not in need of cleaning. I've tried several different cleaners. The rest of the steering wheel feels normal. I've even purposely put extra hand lotion on, rubbed it in, 10 minutes later, still sticky................

Can you post some pictures of the steering wheel at 12 o'clock? Or at midnight would work too. :)

I have seen this in other makes/models, usually it is because the surface is getting worn off and that's the consistency of the inside. Do you death grip the steering wheel? Wear gloves when driving or something that would make it wear out prematurely?

No, I'm on the Central Coast of Cali. I've seen plastics do this when they are several years old, but I'm stumped on this one as the truck is brand new.

It's still under warranty so you should take it to the dealer and ask them to look at it. They probably get you a new steering wheel. You dont want to keep this wheel if you are planning to keep the truck for a long time.

I'm a very relaxed driver, and the surface does not look any different, it is just really sticky.
Like, spilled soda baked in the sun for days sticky..................

Manufacture defect is the only thing I could think of. Get them to swap it out for you. It's a new truck so it should be perfect.

That's what I think too NK, I want to keep this truck for many years. I'm building a rig to support my hobbies of fossil hunting, and fishing the Sierras. I'll be heading to dealership soon.

My leather wheel on Sienna was getting worn from previous owner and was sticky. I put an eight dollar cover on it and called it a day. Peace. D

I had to replace steering wheel on my 2016 1794. $580 for the new steering wheel. I did the labor. I think for OP's steering wheel it should be replaced for free under warranty. It looks like some sort of manufacture defect.
