Toytec BOSS Self Install

Installed my BOSS kit yesterday and it went pretty easy. It took six hours, including SPC UCAs. You can tell by the beer supply that I was anticipating a LONG night lol. The truck is at the alignment shop now, so I will post a before/after photo this afternoon.

For anyone doubting if they can do this themselves, do it!






Color matched door handles have been on order for a few weeks

 

I didn't install my own UCA's, but I have loosened them and re-torqued them since to grease the bushings. I find re-torquing them to be a huge pain in the ass, especially the driver's side. There are three lines that are really in the way, and I'm always worried about bending them too much. I think they might be vacuum/evap lines or something like that. Any tips on how you worked around them? Can these lines be easily unclipped and moved out of the way? I usually use around a 6" extension to get around them the best I can. Still, it's tough getting to 173 ft/lbs with the limited workspace.

 

@Hoologan Did you do the install solo?

 

@UTTundra That was challenging. Admittedly, I didn't torque that side because of this. I just tightened it "tight af" with an open end wrench and cheater.

@nowayout I did do this solo. I have two floor jacks and four jackstands so it wasn't bad at all. Somebody could have helped by handing me tools and beer I suppose.

For some stupid reason I thought the alignment shop was open until 4:00, but they really closed at 1:00. They called and left a message at 1:22 saying they would stay open for a few more minutes, but my stupid phone didn't beep until close to 2:00 (right after I posted this thread) and by that time they were long gone. My truck is now stuck there until Monday morning. So irritated, but it's not a reflection on them, only my own stupidity.

 

How hard was changing the bushing for the shackles? Any tips?

 

That's one thing I did not do that I forgot to mention. Re-used the OEM bushings for now. I heard removing the bushings was a pain, so I purposely did not try due to time constraints. That will be a future project.

 

Beer supply? Two six packs? Are you installing a lift or rotating the tires? Just pulling your chain, looks sharp dude.

 

Dude I went to the Irish festival in downtown Richmond today, hit a different brewery before and after. I had to bring my ass home before I got in trouble. I have a knack for doing that

 

He failed due to only loading one 18 pack...you have to grab 2 so ur balanced....rookie mistake lmao

Maybe slightly. It's totally illegal in commiefornia.

 

That's ridiculous. I used to work in the auto glass industry and most manufacturers offered a privacy version of the front door glasses. If it's OEM it shouldn't be illegal. California is an awesome place...to visit!

 

3/1.5. I'm actually sitting a little high in the front, I'll need to adjust once it settles.
