2014 tundra wheel tire and leveling kit upgrade

i just recently got a quote for rims tires and a leveling kit on my 2014 tundra double cab sr5 4wd.

Here is the set up I was requesting. 20x10 fuel off-road maverick, with somewhere around a 33" bfg ko2 tires. I requested a pricing of a 3" lift kit.

He said to me that there wasn't really a good 3" lift for the 2014 tundra. He said that he recommended a leveling kit which would get me about 2.5" and will look good. He also said that the tire size he recommended was a 285 55 r20. I explained to him that I wanted wider tire that stuck out around the fender. He said that the issue with the 2014 tundras is to go any wider they will have to cut out some of the frame mount to prevent rubbing. Also he said that the biggest size rims is the 20x9 would fit with this set up. Any comments on this or excuse my ignorance but what are my other options without going with excessive funds to get the job I'm looking for. I've been searching for 285/55/r20 pics but really can only come up with a stock photo of a tundra tss package. Also my question here is , is this going to be the same looking set up? Any pics or alternate suggestions will be appreciated.

 

I would just get a set of bilstein 5100 and set them to 2.5" of lift then drop your rim size to 18" and get 305/65/18 bfg ko2's and you will be good and not break the bank. Or if you want the 20's get the 305/55/20.

 

What I am getting from his is on the 2014 models the frame mount will need to be cut back to be able fit these two sizes. He showed me some pics where its been done, we just didn't really get into the pricing. Plus I would say that it will need more than a 2.5 inch leveling kit to get these to fit also . Im just wondering if the frame mount problem has been corrected since the 2014 model or is this an ongoing issue?

 

It's not an issue. I have a 12 with 2.5" of lift with 35's. You will be fine with the sizes I said. They are both less than 34".

 

Ya I get that but would he need to do it for 33's? That's what my buddy has and no issues.

 

Both sizes I recommend are 33.4". As long as you don't go crazy with the offset on your wheels you will be fine with not doing the cab mount chop or any trimming.

 

I don't see why anyone would recommend a leveling kit when 5100's exist.

 

Yes I do believe you are correct he is referring to the cmc, I really don't want to go wild with the width but would like to clear the fenders some as it will give a wider stance. I was looking at the 20x10 size rim but he referred me to 20x9. i wonder if I did get the cmc done what would the cost be? I'm not looking to go wild but just want to get my money's worth and be satisfied.

 

Just go with around a +18 or so offset and you will stick out around an inch or so and no cutting needed.
