    Hello all,

Recently had remote start and security (Viper) installed and now the lower half of controls (thermostat dials, tow/haul, info buttons) will not light up. Install shop tried everything they could but to no avail. Anybody have any tips or suggestions? Thanks.

my guess is the install shop accidentally broke a ground fore the lower controls, since its a whole bank of controls and not one you will have to track the connections for said controls till you find the break.

Thanks. I'm not well versed in electrical components. How would I go about fixing it?

see if you can find a schematic for the dash online and see where all the connections are for the components.

Completely agree and that's what I did initially. 5 hours later, they still had no idea what was wrong. Rather not go back there.

Is it save to assumed that they check to make sure there are no blown fuses?

Technician told me that he hooked it up to a different power source and it lit up. Confusing to say the least. I'm not familiar with electrical components so I'm wondering why he couldn't have just kept it with the power source that worked.

Everything had been working properly prior to the installation of the alarm.

The initial install went great; everything worked but I wanted to customize it so I went back. Increase glass break sensor sensitivity, 1 click unlock only drivers door, disable Toyota factory lock/unlock chirps (disabling vipers chirps wouldn't allow the 1 click unlock), and integrate truck horn with alarm.

I guess in the process of doing all this, something or someone messed up. On the 5 hour visit, I believe they pretty much reinstalled the entire system but found nothing.

No, I believe it was an external power source just to check to see if there wasn't an issue with the thermostat knobs themselves. Like I said, it's confusing.

Maybe I’m stating the obvious but there is also another fuse panel by the drivers left knee above the emergency brake.

PM me your email and I'll send you the diagram. It's about 10 pages long so you will have to print them out and stitch them together. I think if you take it back to the shop they should be able to trace it out for you.
