I just purchased a new 2018 Tundra SR5 Crewmax with the TRD off Road package. I've had the vehicle 2 weeks and have been noticing a noise coming from the front suspension area...not entirely sure if the noise is suspension related, but I wanted to see if anyone else hears/feels this.

Basically, every time I start the vehicle, put it in drive and go a couple of feet or make the first turn, there's a noticeable tick/grind kind of noise coming from the front underbelly of the vehicle. I've considered taking it in the the dealership, but I wanted to check here first to see if this is normal OR am I just being a crazy new Tundra owner babying the shit out of my vehicle?

It could be a lot of different things. The best advice I can give you is to get under there and look for yourself. I had some work done to my truck and afterwards I had a rattle which I told them was probably heat shield due to the sound. I took it to the dealership three different times and they couldn't find it. I got frustrated, looked under the truck, and found it within 30 seconds, bent it out of the way and ban! No more annoying rattle.

Trying to diagnose noises can be really hard, especially over the internet.

Try to narrow it down to one side or the other or the middle and then look for anything that may seem out of the ordinary if that makes sense.

This is great advice I totally forgot I did this. I took a video of the rattle and played it for the tech, he could not believe how loud it was because he couldn't duplicate the noise.

I have noticed the exact same thing on mine. Seems to be steering system related but I haven’t pinpointed it yet. It’s like a “clunk” sound to me.

It seems it only do it then and after long sitting periods. It doesn’t seem to happen the rest of the time driving it(after the initial noise).

I have been told it is the ABS system that does a self-check every time you start the truck.

I've noticed that if my truck hasn't been driven for a few days, it will make a momentary grinding noise when I turn on the heat / AC. Probably not related but you never know.
