So I bought my 17 CM in November and just had it off road for the first time. I spent a few days on the TX coast at Padre Island National Seashore. For those that aren't familiar it is 60 miles of undeveloped beach and you can drive it. Beach conditions vary from hard pack to deep and soft over the length of the beach. I have been there dozens of times but in in my Jeep Wrangler which handled the deep sand with no problem. Not sure why but because of the size and weight I was a little concerned about my Tundra and how it would perform. Well I was not disappointed, the Tundra did great and had no problem tackling the deeper sections of sand. Can't wait to head back down next month.

Yes. still have stock tires. Right after this pic I headed south where I knew the sand would be deeper so I aired down. As far as the fishing goes it was just ok. Conditions weren't the best but I didn't care, I was on the beach. I caught a bunch of whiting and some pompano

It was North Padre, the national Seashore that you access near Corpus. The National Seashore and SPI are separated by the Mansfield Channel.

2 12ft rods, a 15ft rod and an 8ft. The 12ft and 15ft have Penn spinning reels. One has a Battle II 8000 and the others are Penn Fierce 6000 or 8000. I also have a Diawa Sealine but didn't break that one out this trip

I have heard nothing but awesome times in Padre Island. One of my friends went there to spend his last remaining days with his wife and close family. No place in this world he would rather have been.

Someday, I plan for a trip there.

On a lighter note, a couple of weeks ago we went Jeeping with an off-road virgin. He couldn’t get up to where we were supposed to meet (2 trails that meet. One easy, one will make your butthole pucker). We decided to drive down the road to meet up at the entrance. I decided to let my 9 year old drive down. He really felt bad when she drove by him. He just didn’t know to air down, use his ARB lockers properly.
