    Hello All!

I recently bought a 2015 Tundra with smoked head and tail lights. Not long ago the smoke effect started flaking, im not really sure if it is a varnish, a film (it doesn't look like it) or what is it the tint used but i would like to go back to clear headlight covers since i don't really like the smoke effect, specially in the front.
Does anyone know where to find just the clear covers? i only seem able to find them smoked or the entire headlight set, that's pretty expensive, when i just need the plastic exterior cover.

    Thanks in advance,

i've never seen just the lenses for sale. Only hope would be a retrofitter that may have some spare parts laying around

you might be able to take some really fine sandpaper and sand it off (definitely try a small area first)

I think you’re either going to have to replace them, find some type of safe solvent to take it off. I would definitely be scared to do that one. But I have hand sanded a clearcoat finish off of a set of headlights more than once. I’ve also polished very cloudy pitted headlights back to near factory transparency. It’s a lot of work but very cheap.

Post some pictures of them and I’m sure we can help. Sounds like previous owner did the blackout headlight mod to it though, if that’s the case it may be irreversible.

Hello everyone and much appreciated for the great responses. I’m posting pictures in hopes that some of you might recognize what kind of material it is and how to remove it. Ignore it’s not possible, I would like to know if there is any place where I can get just the plastic covers. I rather change the entire headlight but no money right now.
As you can see in the picture the tint falls off flaking (in my finger) and not homogeneous. Flake it off is pretty difficult and it’s worst in the fogs.

Welcome. They sell polish for restoring old headlights. You may want to try that.

You can try the 3M heavy duty restore kit to get the film off. As BlueBottle posted above, Lamin-X clear protectant for headlights and fogs. I have them on my fogs and plan on getting ones for the headlights.

Yeah I'm not sure what whoever did that was thinking. Maybe VHT night shades or something similar. Good job getting it off!
