    Hello Everyone,

Im looking to get into a Tundra. I had a FJ80 land cruiser. Im wondering what year is best? Im looking for 08 and up. Im wanting to do some mudding and off road'in but she will be used on the highway quite a bit. Im wanting a lift and tires to start. What would be the best quality and price lift? Somewhere around 4-6"? I dont like flashy rims, and I want a aggressive looking tire. Its been soo long since I was in a truck im not ip to date amd good products especially for the tundra at the moment. Thank you for the help.

    Welcome!
Most go with a 3" OME lift from Toytec. That being said, I am trying to up mine to 4" so it'll still fit in my garage.
We have a tire thread, check it out when you have a free moment.
Duratracs and TOYO Open Country M/T's are popular.
I run TOYOs, but had Duratrac MTR's on my taco and loved them.
I believe two other CO members here are/will be running Duratracd

What about trim levels. I heard that if I get a platinum, the suspension is not as good? Is that true?

I believe the platinum has the same suspension as the TRD's...

I have the TRD, and changed my suspension with the lift, but yes. The TRD shocks are better than the Grade stocks.

If you plan to do anything such as a 6" or changing your suspension, I would def. research, the TRD may not be worth the $ and it may be better to do SR5. Thats my opinion, take it with a grain of salt, I just think that if youre going to change out the suspension no point to pay and finance more $ on the suspension youre getting rid of with that TRD. You can do Bilsteins to get some lift, OME, BMF (2-3.5 range) Rough Country, ProComp (6" range).

The TRD comes with the back up cam too, where I think the SR5 doesn't
I agree with Jonas- just order all of your lift parts before and just swap it out and sell the stock items ...I still have my stock TRD shocks / coils

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
Anything 08 and up will be good. There haven't been any major flaws or recalls with any year 08+.

Trim level is up to you. Each have different features like limited slip, backup camera, color matched items, sun roof, etc. I'm sure you can google to find out the features of each. In my opinion the platinum version should only be purchased if your not planning to add a bunch of mods. Don't spend the money if your going to remove stuff to go aftermarket. Platinum is marketed to be everything you desire from the factory.

As for suspension, the differences in trim levels are the shocks and springs. If you are going to lift it anyway and remove the shocks and front springs then you dont need to worry about what it has.
