How do I put power folding mirrors on a 2018 Double Cab Limited? What about wiring mods?

This thread. Anyone done this before? I have a 2017 SR5 CM so I am interested to see if the wiring would be the same, seems like it would be.

I refined my search a little while ago and was able to track this thread down. Seems like there is good info but a little difficult to complete.

I have been researching this for a while. I have some information, lots more questions. I have a double cab and I don't know much about the CM. There is a YouTube video on this. It isn't entirely thorough but it is pretty darn good. To me it looks very complicated. I am not a very mechanically inclined person. But I will probably give it a shot. The power fold switch at Toyota is about $200. The power fold mirrors with the lane change, blind spot and cross traffic warnings are $1200 each from Toyota. If you don't need everything they are less expensive. You can get power folding tow mirrors on ebay for just under $900 for a pair, but it doesn't have all the electronics, as far as I can tell. The mirrors would come from a CM Platinum with power fold option. Not all of them come this way and none of the Limited's do. Thank you Toyota!! Why not a Platinum Double Cab??????????

ccdawnpatrol-duh, what is a sail panel? The lower part of the dash where the switch is?

TRD rear sway bar, console organizer, stubby antenna, LEDs for cabin, cargo, license plate, and reverse lights, power-fold mirrors, Westin nerf bars, full stereo upgrade. Future - color-match grill surround/bulge, mirror caps, handles, plasti-dip badges.
The sail panel is the triangular trim piece where the mirrors are mounted. Looks like a sail.

I thought Toyota of Cool Springs had the mirrors for $700 or so. Maybe @Roman can chime in. While it looks like most forum members have chosen not to bother with this mod as it is very expensive and the wiring is a little involved, I am still interested. I figure it will still be cheaper than converting my two 8' garage doors into one single door.

Roman - Looking for the power fold mirrors with heat, BSM, and auto-dim, as well as the mirror switch for an '18 Limited CM.

Got the OEM tow mirrors listed in this thread:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/ultimate-oem-toyota-parts-thread.10707/

No BSM or auto dim, though.

Saw those, but I personally am not looking for the Tow mirrors. I just want the regular stock mirrors with power fold. Looks like it could cost $5000 to convert my two garage doors to a single door, and I may not even have the space for a larger header over the 16' opening. I think the $1000 give or take for the mirrors and a few hours of wiring is worth it. Tundra is a large truck to clean snow off of!

Thanks Roman! Those are pricey! Any reason why they both say Outer R'? and why one is more expensive than the other?

I need to get a few more 'substantial' posts so I can post in the marketplace and hopefully find someone that traded for Tow mirrors.

Yea, they definitely aren't cheap. I don't know why they are two different prices, though. Most Tundra mirrors are that way, for whatever reason. It's weird.

I'm sure somebody still has theirs. I know I've sold plenty of tow mirrors to people here. :)

Are those mirrors you listed complete, ready to install? Sure a lot cheaper than I was quoted

I checked there, nothing in my area. Going to have to wait and hope some become available. I still have a bunch of junk in my garage anyway, but with another Nor'Easter on the way with the potential to dump another 12-18" of snow, I'd love to see if I could squeeze the tundy in there this weekend.

For anyone interested, I checked my '18 limited CM today and I am not prewired for the power folding mirrors. I will have to add 6 wires for fold/auto dim/puddle lights.

I got lucky enough to catch someone selling mirrors from a '12 Limited. These have everything but the BSM LED. There is a TundraTalk thread where someone was able to install amber LEDs in the sail panels inside the truck and those light up instead. I will be doing the same thing.

I checked wiring diagrams and confirmed that everything is pretty much the same from '12 to '18. Probably down to '10 as well, maybe even down to '07. The switch has to be the 10-pin version as I believe the 8-pin version is designed for trucks with the seat memory option (seat and mirror memory are controlled by an ECU in the door). The 8-pin switch has a black connector on the back and the fold button seems to be momentary, whereas the 10-pin has a white or cream-colored connector and the fold button latches in when pressed, then out when pressed again.

I will be adding 6 wires (2 for auto-dim, 2 for puddle lights, and 2 for power fold) at each mirror. I will splice the LED wiring into the BSM wires and mount the LEDs into the sail panel for BSM. I'll update this post in a few weeks once I've had the chance to install everything.

I was able to start the power-fold mirror install this past weekend. I got the 6 wires run into each door, and terminated them in the mirror connectors. I used 24 gauge wire from Amazon. Just as other threads/forums have mentioned, I did have to clip a piece off the top of each pin in order to get them to fit in the connectors, and I also had to use some needle-nose pliers to flatten the burr and make sure the crimp was taller than wide. I used a straight pick too to push the wire all the way in. I had to take a lot apart on the passenger side than I had anticipated, including letting the airbag hang, but once all that was down I was able to route the passenger wires over to the driver's side.

I got back into it today and was able to terminate everything under the dash on the driver's side and up at the A-pillar for the auto dim. I hit a snag with the puddle lights, but this was not a surprise because the other thread on TundraTalk mentioned there was an issue with the common ground. The issue is that I branched off of the driver's footwell light for the puddle lights. This light is on a negative trigger, but the stock wiring for the puddles lights are set up for a positive trigger. Since I was relocating the BSM LEDs to the sail panel, I just ended up cutting the common ground wire and connecting the mirror end to the wire I ran at the footwell light and connected the door end to the BSM LED. After I did this, I realized I could've used a relay to turn the footwell trigger into a positive, then I would only need one wire and I could utilize the common ground. NBD, I don't think I'll ever be putting it back to stock. It's only important if I were to get my hands on OEM mirrors with the BSM as well as power fold.

Everything works great! The 3mm LEDs are nice and small, but still light up bright when the BSM kicks in. The puddle lights work with the dome lights (unlock and door open), and the signal lights work as well.

It only took me a few hours to run the 6 wires (auto-dim, fold, puddle light). It really wasn't all that difficult. The extra wires on the top row (pins 15, 16, 17) are most likely for the memory settings are not not needed when adding power fold to a Limited.

Very good point... I have a 2.5-year-old and a 3-month old, had to negotiate those few hours with the wife.
