I'm a new Tundra owner and want to install vent visors to reduce noise.
I'm looking at AVS from RealTruck and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on In-Channel vs. the Tape on attachment.

go inchannel they last so much better and do not mess up your windows , I had them on many trucks and love them . I have weathertechs . Look at how many tape on's have come off / broken and what they look like .

I have the in channel AVS system. The channel system still has tape when you install the visors

You will likely notice an increase in wind noise with the visors.. that was my experience with them

I prefer the in-channel. I had one set that actually messed up the window regulator and oddly enough, it was on my 2006 Tundra that I bought new. When I sold that truck, the window regulator had slack in it to where it would drop a little when rolling down the window. I have never had that happen on any car prior or after that. However, my last two sets that I have bought have been the stick on, but they are noiser and don't look as good in my opinion.

I have the tape-on from AVS. I had the same ones on my '13 Tundra. The only issue I ever had was when my wife opened her door too close to a tree and smashed the visor. I was able to pop it off using a little heat from a blow dryer. No damage to the paint underneath. I installed the same ones on my '18

Yeah I didn’t understand what the OP meant by reducing noise? Can you clarify @avi8r2009

I have the tape on. AVS LOW PROFILE. I like them because they flow nicely with the body and window lines of the truck. Had them for 5 months. Been thru a harsh winter and no issues. Doesn’t increase or declcrease wind noise.

Bringing this back to life. Wouldn’t the in channel one cause stress on the window and motor when the window reaches the vent since it’s prob a super tight space after install?

I bought and installed the Weathertechs. It was tight after the first few days. I then removed them and really cleaned out the track system all the way around the clock as best possible. After cleaning, I then sprayed PB Blaster with Silicone and Teflon all the way around and wiped some on the friction side of visor/window and re-installed the new visors. No problems after this. The silicone and Teflon properties work best AFTER they dry.

Seems like a lot of work for something that is designed to just go into place

The visor is designed to fit into place.

The window is not designed to fit a visor in place.

If you want visor, then you follow the steps I suggested to make it work properly (as best optimized).

    Nothing is easy.

Yeah that was what concerned me that channel belongs to the window and prob doesn’t like roommates hahha. I have always had the regular ones but was considering in channel ones but didn’t want to put strain on anything

I have in channel AVS been on the truck three years no issues with window motor. The only thing is very minimal scuffing of the top most edge of the window, but nothing you really notice unless you are looking for it.

I've used both types over the years. Both have their pluses and minuses. They both served their purpose quite well.

My visors are working very well no scuffs even with Ceramic Tint.

PB Blast Silicone with Teflon is your friend.

Going with the stick on visors. They seem to nothing but positive reviews. The in channels have great reviews too but they have what seems to be more issues with falling out and causing stress on the window. The falling out part is an issue for me.

    None, yet
I've had in channel AVS on both of my Tacoma's. Well over 200k between them.
Never any issue with windows or regulators.
Unfortunately AVS does not make in channel for my 06 DC.

I have asked pretty much the same thing as I had ordered the in-channel and outside mounting ones. I've done a lot of research on these and I have pros and cons on both of them and after last week...just decided to go with these in-channel ones. There is a lot I like about the ones that fit on the outside, but I figured my best option was to go with the in-channel ones, so I didn't have to worry about the "removal" process of them from the outside, if I was truly unhappy.
