Pollen...

I was going to post this in the detailing section but figured this post wasn't exactly me detailing the truck... haha

I live in Florida... have this stupid tree above my driveway... outside of STRAIT up burning that tree down to fix this issue, how have you guys been dealing with pollen?

I ask this not because my truck is green from pollen... that's going to happen regardless of a tree over my driveway, but because when the wind blows or when it rains it POOPs out those pesky pollen things... I dont always have time to rinse the truck in the morning before heading to work. When its on there because of rain the stick to the truck till I get home to wash them off... I hate driving around with that crap on my truck...

Thinking about getting a car port... which would be nice for washing... but we are expecting a baby in July... So dont want to spend too much money if I can avoid it.

What are you guys doing to combat pollen this year?

 

I am fighting the same fight (also in Florida). I don't think there is anything you can do about it. Taking the tree out or parking in the garage or carport will help a little with that specific location, but it is everywhere. I just try to rinse it as often as I can - about all you can do.

Ya kinda what I was thinking... At least im not the only one... I dont have a garage so that's currently not an option... Just sucks to have to go and rinse it off every morning/evening right now...

 

Both my neighbor's on each side of me have Oak trees so I'm really hating it! Then we have a pecan tree and spring time there is tiny spots of sap looks like water spots

 

We have a pressure washer at work so I just stop at the workshop on my way home and give it a quick rinse every other day. A lot easier than to have to do it at home.
I have a 2 car garage but the truck won't fit in it with all the other crap in there.

 

Ya my neighbor across the street has a Oak tree... Killing me... and my neighbor directly next to has some trees next to my drive way... Im about to call the City and find out where that property line is... cause its questionable... If it is on my side GOOD FREAKING BYE TREESSSSS!!!

Ya i have a pressure washer at home... just not convenient to pull it out at 6am lol just gonna take a hose to it... Good thing i just waxed should just fall right off

My truck does get parked in the garage M-F and it still has a solid layer of pollen on it. Looking out the windshield it looks like my paint is some kind of white/yellow hybrid. I don't think any kind of carport or open cover is going to resolve anything.

 

Oh it does when it drops these little turds...

 

I live in Florida and have a monthly membership to the local car wash all you can wash. Yes, automated isn't the best but it's light silver and I can't really see any scratches from the car wash. I go once or twice a week to help keep it clean. If I had a dark color I'd find another solution.

 

I guess you're right because I don't have those little runts everywhere. They do sit all over my Acura since it's outside.

 

I will take the pollen any day.

 

I have a 2016 Bronze so it is a dark color for sure. I am handicapped so hand washing is out of the question. The car wash I use has the strips that go back and forth, no rotary type. I also get it washed 2 times a week and have not noticed any marks on the paint but after reading this post I am concerned. They also put spray a carnuba type wax which is then rinsed off before a towel dry. Am I ultimately messing my finish and are their any other suggestions. They touchless automate washes just done seem to get it clean enough. Maybe I should find a different car wash. As I say, I have not seen any swearl marks and have been getting it washed for over a year now, suggestions?

unlike tree sap the pollen will not damage your paint, just hose it off when you get a chance. And, like you said, save you money for you new incoming family member.....way more important then your truck.

 

What about a truck cover or, a chain saw
