Thank goodness for the Cement T4R TRD Pro...because I’m now a Cement Tundra TRD Pro owner!

I will admit, the Tundra was not in my sights a year ago. My sights were fixed on the 2017 4Runner TRD Pro that I patiently waited 7 months to get. I loved that truck, until I didn’t.

The 4Runner had a lot of great qualities including simplicity and reliability (even though I had it for only 12 months). One thing I loved was the Cement color. Despite how slow the car is, I still enjoyed the truck for 12 months. I even got over MSRP on the trade, so I made money driving it for 12 months.

It was just too damn slow. What would take its place?

The 2017 Tundra TRD Pro in Cement was really its only replacement, but I wasn’t sure where I could find one. I didn’t put too much effort into finding one, especially since I already had a truck (Ford F350 Crew Cab Long bed) that I used for towing. Then I found a dealer with one, with just 8,000 miles on it, who’s previous owner had trouble parking it in the city of Kansas City, KS. Hehe...try parking a F350.

I love how much faster the truck is, so much more manuverable than the F350 land yacht and the awesome Cement color!

Looking forward to modding the truck (just minor stuff) as you can see the picture below of the first day with the truck and the stubby antenna.

The driver’s side grab handle is in, LED interior lights, and after tomorrow’s snow, I’ll have the bed cover and bed extender in. LED headlights are definitely in the future.

100% my first choice of truck, but I couldn't locate one when I was buying. Plus I figured I needed all of the blind-spot stuff if I were ever going to trust my truck to my wife (in case of an emergency only, of course ) My 2018 Limited Cement/Black is due in 3 weeks or so.

Just think about the poor guy that is going to regret, for the rest of his life, getting rid of that truck.

@NJ Cement TRD Pro How do you like the sound vs the T4R? Quite a difference, right!!

 

Love that color. Drove a new 4 runner last year as a loner. Slow is being generous. Nannies off and step on the gas.

 

The T4R might as well have been a Tesla in terms of sound. Then again, it would seem that 99% of T4R owners do not care about how slow they are, or they lack any kind of exhaust note, or that fact that they already get crappy gas mileage for such a slow vehicle.

I am quite spoiled with the V8 sound already. Here’s the other car I drive, when I don’t have to bring the kids anywhere, and when it’s nice outside.

Welcome and good choice. I also had a TRD Pro 4runner in white and sold it after 9 months because it was too slow, too uncomfortable, and crappy gas mileage for how slow.

 

No wonder they call them SLOWRunners.

I should have test drive it before...could have bought the Cement Tundra TRD Pro brand new at the same time. For some reason, my deale has plenty of allocation for Tundras...but backlogged on Tacos.

Can you supercharge Pro 4runner?

 

TRD no longer markets a supercharger for the T4R...but there is one still available in the aftermarket. Part of the issue is not just power, but the lack of gears. The T4R is still only a 5-speed.

 

I sure am going to miss my '07 V8 4Runner. It is going, unfortunately, when the new Tundra arrives in 3 weeks or so. I didn't buy it as a race car and never viewed it as such. But that V8 in it is a great engine and never left me really wanting. Too bad V8's aren't available anymore.
