I had a new amp installed in my 2018 tundra 1794 edition and it fixed the crappy JBL system. Yes I kept all the factory equipment adding that amp makes it sound like a great system. The amp and install only cost me $100 well spent considering what one pays for a tundra

I wondered if all it needed was more juice. Do you have any pics of the install?

I haven’t looked in to it at all but I think my system has a factory amp...did you just replace that?

    Thanks!

I don't believe you can just replace the factory amp since it "decodes" the output from the head unit. I think you have to place the new amp after the factory JBL amp.

Sorry no pics . I just had them bypass the factory amp. With the cardon 1000 watt amp. And yes I figured it needed more juice and it worked very well i left the factory amp in so when it comes time to trade the truck in it can be put back to factory without any problems. Highly recommend

No need to replace the system can handle a lot more than what I added but it does sound great. And your very welcome.

Wait what? Everything ever written and said about the JBL system states adding an amp is not possible. Well it's not that simple anyway.... We need details on this

You didn't need a line out converter ? What are the specs on this amp? This makes zero sense to me, I want it to, but after a year of research on how to upgrade the JBL on the cheap it makes so sense.

Yeah or a diagram of some sort with outputs and inputs would be helpful
If it’s that simple I can’t imagine why no one considered it previously ??? :/

It is actually very simple. they just bypass the factory amp with the newer bigger amp. And leave the factory amp right where it is. and the install only took an hour. So yes it is possible. Lol.

There are multiple installers and audio companies that have tried to come up with solutions to fixing the JBL system. Replacing the amp isn't the solution or even an option we need more information about this. If it was this simple then we'd all do it. Maybe things changed in 2018? But this really makes no sense to me or probably anyone who has a JBL system.

I’ve been telling people this. The speakers are more than adequate. The whole issue was the amp. I ended up installing my whole system. But started with the amp and it sounded 100x’s better

All you had to do was reolace the amp?
What about a sound processor and line out converter? Every bit of literature says that the amp on the JBL acts as much more than an amp. I'm not calling anyone a liar here. I just wanna know details. I couldn't find a solution to fix mine for under 700 and that didn't include changing any speakers. In fact I'd rather keep my speakers and head unit.

The wiring in the 2018 is different than in previous years yes. I know that because of the remote start that I had installed. the remote started had to be a factory remote start

Seriously. It can't be this easy. I spoke at length with tech12volts, and its so complicated. Even taco tunes and OEM audio had to come up with an elaborate system.

Seriously it was that easy. Just bypassed the factory Amp rewired everything to the new Amp. When needed can be switched back to the factory Amp.
