    Update #2
I was skeptical about what the mechanic at Toyota said about the noise coming from the pump. I took my stethoscope and pin pointed the noise and it's 100% coming from inside the transmission oil pan(there was no noise coming from the pump with my stethoscope). There is some type of Plug/Sensor thing on the drivers side that's attached to the trans. and noise is coming from that area.

I went down to my local Toyota dealership and got into a 2016 SR5 TRD offroad package. I test drove it around for few blocks. Once we came back to the dealership and parked(turned off the engine) I heard the same noise. I turned the engine on/off a few times and it still made the noise. I guess it's "Normal".

    UPDATE
I stopped by the toyota dealership and the mechanic pinpointed the noise and said it's the Air pump.

Here is a video of what I'm talking about.

    http://youtu.be/eaPlzhnuOuU

I don't know if this is normal but after shutting off my engine tonight heard a buzzing type sound coming from underneath my truck(turned off a few seconds later). So I started/shut off the engine again I went under the truck to pin point the sound. It's coming from the transmission oil pan. I put my ear on the pan and can hear it inside. After a few seconds or more I hear a click then it turns off.

It's not the normal fan like noise.

Any ideas? Does yours do this also?

Are you sure its not coming from the fuel tank area? If so, that is the EVAP system running a self diagnostic test.

Yes i put my ear right on the trans. oil pan and it sound like it's coming from that area. I'll check again but it wasn't that loud around the tank.

My 13 makes a very similar noise when the truck is first turned on and running than it slowly fades away. I would be curious as to what that is exactly.

It's deffinetly coming from inside the trans. oil pan. That is the loudest area when I put my ear right against the pan (ear touching).

Just because what you are hearing is loudest at your oil pan area doesn't mean it originates there. Sound can be amplified, and the source may be further down the "line".

It's not the Air pump. I used my stethoscope right on it while it was making noise and it wasn't coming out of the pump. The pump does make the fan noise when i Shut it off but right after the fan noise stops i can hear the " Buzzing" type noise from the trans. oil pan.

This happens once you drive the truck around for like a block(not on cold start). Right after you drive go to a quiet place and shut off the engine. Then put your head under the drivers side where the trans. oil pan is and you will hear it.

Well, back to "dang". We are trying to narrow it down. I forgot how good a stethoscope is when troubleshooting. That's a positive here so far.

I was going with what I was able to hear in the video. It's probably just something setting itself to a neutral position, kind of like the ducts in the cabin do. I certainly don't think it's of concern. I haven't noticed mine doing it, but I'll give it a listen when I think to.

I know my cabin ducts tend to have a mind of their own for a couple of seconds at times after shut off. Can barely hear it.

Ok so you tested out a new truck on the lot and it made the same noise. Are we chalking this up as "normal" and there are no issues?
I guess the talk continues just to verify the exact item that is making the noise?

Tend to agree with @Wynnded. Just because you hear a "sound" doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem. Repeatability is a virtue when it comes to forming a hypothesis for anything. What's good for me is that my hearing sucks. :headbang:

My truck only has about 1300 miles on it so I can say it's still new lol. I did go to the dealer and test drove a new truck and it made the same noise continuously after shutting the engine off multiple times. I guess once we figure out what is in the trans. near the oil pan we can figure out what it is.

Having bad hearing can help with being picky over odd types of noise from the truck lol

Did that already and it had the same noise.:bananadance:

Having less than perfect hearing can be a plus, especially when the grandkids are making a ruckus.

My 2016 4 runner makes this noise too. I assumed it was the fuel system.
