So I put it in 4h mode today and it makes a screeching noise when given gas and deaccelearting , when put back in 2wd it's normal? What can it be ? 18cm tundra with 1200 miles

I'd suspect the front driveshaft or yoke assembly initially

I wouldn’t even stress out about it. Just take it to the dealer and let them deal with it.

They should be noice about it

15 has a valid point given your year and lack of mileage. It may have been built in 17 and sat for awhile. Even the owners manual suggests putting it in 4wd occasionally to lube things up a bit

I know this sounds dumb, but is there a proper way to turning on 4h or 4lo? Or should I just turn the dial and go ?

Don’t quote me exactly, but I believe any speed under 45mph or so would be appropriate for 4H.
4L is at a full stop and I believe It’s either in neutral or park.
Someone will parrot the owners manual soon I’m sure.

Check the card in the drivers side visor. 4hi can be engaged while in gear rolling. 4 lo in neutral

It can be driven past 45 mph.....i believe it’s below 62 mph engaging and disengaging from 2H - 4H

    I can't imagine a scenario where I'd use 4H at 60mph lol.

Just making sure. It's sounds like something is rubbing or hitting metal to metal? Or something is possibly no greased?

It's a theory based on the fact more moving parts are involved when in 4wd. Isolate said parts and identify cause..Thats it.

Even if it is something that needs to be greased, which I doubt, it should not make any noise this early on. Don’t touch it. Take it in. Depending on what is have it documented.

Are you sure it’s not the transfer case? Is this on a straight road on dry pavement? You can engage 4WD (high) up to 55mph. There’s no limit on how fast you go once engaged.
    Any video of this noise?

The noise gets faster / loader as I go faster. It kinda reminds of the noise when as kid I would put a baseball card by the wheel of my bike so it touches the wheel spokes

Never thought of that. I doubt I’d ever be in that position with the tundra but anything is possible. If I was at Pismo I’d RENT something and take the insurance lol

Now you have to tell us their findings. That sounds so much like a driveshaft/Ujoint issue.

Factory robotics are damn accurate. This is something minor. I’ll stick with a lack of lubricant or faulty Ujoint.

It is just a guess though.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow and have them check it out. Least it's not a Chevy shake issue. Just noise and hopefully a easy fix

Well got back from the dealer. It was a bent dust sleeve hitting the transfer case. It was bent on assembly. All brand new now

So the sleeve was rubbing on the Tcase and no driveline issues. Well we had the region correct. Odd it would only do it in 4wd. The TC is stationary. Oh well. It’s a WIN.
