Why did I buy a tundra?

Honest opinion, I bought mine for the way it drives, the roomy interior and fit and finish. Yes it has little bells and whistles compared to other but my most important key point was relibality and no worries about starting everything morning. Since this was my very first truck I did my homework and test driving other trucks and reading other forums. Chevy shake, ford wobble and Nissan tranny problems were huge topics. But here it was more wear n tare. So that's y I chose a tundra.

I bought a new camping trailer this past fall, which was going to be at the upper limits of my 2011 Tacoma. (Okay, fully loaded, it was probably going to be a little over...) I had planned on towing it with the Tacoma anyway, but when a friend of mine mentioned that he was trading his 2012 Rock Warrior in on a new Tundra, I decided to jump on it.

I really, really loved my Tacoma, and I haven't towed with the Tundra yet, but so far I am really happy with the switch.

Oh, and I wouldn't have considered ANYTHING other than a Tundra...

My 07 Titan was losing the rust wars . The new Titan is fuglyFords are overpriced , never been a fan of Fiat ,and the local GM and Chevy dealers acted like I owed them money . I wanted a truck with more interior space . I didn’t need ,or want a 10 speed ,direct injected , variable displacement ,twin turbo V6 . But most of all , the Tundra was the best truck for me out of all the ones I drove ,the dealer was the easiest to work with . And I liked the color ,it sorta matches the color of my driveway . . .

    The End .

Ive had 3 Tacoma's go over 300k in mileage since the 90's. I needed a bigger back seat than my DC Taco had, and given Toyota dependability and reliability - there was no other choice but to go with a Tundra CM.

Reliability was my number 1 reason for choosing a Tundra I've had Ford/GMC both had more recalls than I had oil changes in them. Secondly it just looks nice

First Tundra for 3rd vehicle and son's (soon to be) driver. What he wanted for looks mainly.

I am liking many things about it:
    Exterior styling
Spacious interior - more than my 3/4 Chevy
    All kinds of power
    Toyota Dependability
An 07 that only looks a few years old

And the more I read on here the better I like it.........

Why did I buy tundra? Because I grew up and finally realized my mistakes through the years. I started my driving career in a Toyota and now I plan on finishing it in a Toyota. So now I drive a Toyota because I’m not an idiot. At least that’s what I tell myself!

Was going to get a Toyota no matter what, after seeing the dependability of my family members yotas (Tundras and 4 runners). Wanted a Taco for 2.5 years while in school and saving. Started to get more serious about buying one and found for what I wanted, a few grand more can get you a Tundra with more room, bed space, towing capacity, power (probably never would tow more than what a Taco can handle though), and a V8. 100% happy with the decision I made!

I've had 6 Tacomas (2 of them with the TRD S/C) and my last 2017 was just a huge disappointment in the drive train. Loved the looks and comfort of the 2017 compared to my early Tacomas. But the constant gear hunting and the underwhelming engine just didn't live up to my 2011 S/C Tacoma. Plus...we are getting an RV and the Tundra was an easy choice. I've really liked the Tundra back since 2010 (and the refresh in 2014 just made me like it more) and will finally have one of my own :) .

    My '96 V6 T100 was a work horse, but I wanted a V8 so I bought a 2002 Tundra.
The '02 Tundra continues to be ultra reliable, but I wanted more power so I bought a 5.7 '07.
Now I have the '02 and the '07, one for work - one for play. Both are great trucks.

I fell in love with the inferno color when it was introduced as a Pro color, and decided I wanted the Tacoma. Then I sat in one on display at the county fair and it felt so small (like a car, not a truck), that I pulled way back and tried to let go of the whole idea. I have no problem juggling old vehicles, and vowed long ago never to buy another new one.

However, because of all the searches I'd done during my initial infatuation, Google kept inserting inferno versions of everything (even other makes, that don't have this colour :notsure:) and, well, I guess that works when there's an emotional connection. Can't recall exactly why I swapped focus to the Tundra, but we visited a friend in Texas that had a CrewMax, and I sat front and back, and also drove it, and fell in love (but knew I preferred a DC). The reputation for reliability is what I used to rationalize buying "one more" new vehicle. And, to be sure of that reliability, I wanted a 2017-- before the new safety electronics.

Previously owned a 1987 2.4L Tacoma (5 people waiting in line to buy, 1st one bought it) and currently own 2003 2.4L Tacoma.

Needed a larger tow vehicle for our travel trailer. The 5.7L Tundra handles the job nicely!

I've been a car Guy my entire life, I've owned many of the brands and after my Dodge fell apart I knew exactly what I wanted.

Tundra ticked all the boxes. First new truck I've ever bought. As a carpenter it hauls my tools, materials and trailers easily.

As my daily it hauls me, the girlfriend, the quad, canoe, bikes and anything else I want. These things rock. Simple, mechanically bulletproof and proven.

My first ever vehicle was a 94 Toyota pickup. I took it to hell and back, broke it a few times, and generally abused it. It never complained and kept coming back for more.

I went to GM (great trucks) then Ford (Fuck Ford) and ended up back with Toyota after buying my 2005 Tundra double cab.

I've fallen in love with Toyota all over again. Comfort, style, reliability, aftermarket options and most importantly...a cult like following by an amazing group of people who get along together despite their differences. Why? Because we all have Toyotas.

I have worked in the auto industry at the OEM or Tier 1 level for over 30 years. I stopped buying domestic in 2004 after a series of lemons that were repurchased by their manufacturers.
Purchased a 2004 Titan LE with every available option after trading in a 1 ton dually. The Titan was an incredibly well built truck. I had 11 great years with it. Then came the Nissan F150, I mean Titan XD. I was all excited to get a new truck and that giant disappointment appeared. Which lead me to look for a new truck elsewhere and since the big 3 were off the list, guess who was left. Up popped a White Platinum Tundra at the local dealer. I have to be honest the thought of the TRD supercharger really sold me on buying the truck. So here we are. Way too much money later with a truck that has more mods than I can count. And I love driving it.

Reliability. When I driver other vehicles like Mercedes nothing but headaches and repair. I made that mistake before, never again will I repeat that mistake going outside those two car brands. I guess some people keep going back to the same car manufacturer and expect a different result.
All Toyota’s and Lexus that I have owned never failed on me yet. Plus great resale value always helps.

No minivan V6 with dual hair dryers, no aluminum bed, no warped dash, no wind leaks into cab, no water into cab, no out of round cylinders, no rods thru block, no spark plug ejection from cylinder head, no plastic oil pan that that leaks, no sync that doesn’t work, and on, and on, and on. Happy without the gadgets; just one badass reliable truck.

    Thanks!

Purchased the Tundra for towing the 2015 Oliver Elite II and they compliment each other nicely. The Tundra handles Ollie easily getting 12.5 to 13.5MPG @ an average of 60MPH with cruise control off in the NC/TN mountains. I let it slow to 55 going up hills and go up to 65MPH down hills while towing.

This camper weighs in under 5000 pounds and 450 pounds tongue weight with empty water tanks ready to camp. Most Elite IIs weigh in over 5000 pounds ready to camp, but I keep the weight under 5000 pounds. The Ollie has a inner and outer fiberglass shell with gel coat finish inside/out and aluminum frame.
