I know there must be someone out there who could help me decide on which suspension I should pick for this truck. I have a 2000 that I use for offroad and a 07 that's on its way out. The Limited has the Off-Road package with the Bilsteins or just the regular suspension system. I need a good highway vehicle so the ride is important. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help. It's been a long time since I bought a new truck.

The TRD suspension will be a little more firm.

Any route you go, can’t go wrong with the Tundra, as you already know.

I'd like to test drive both but as of today, all they have in stock have the off-road package. Thanks, I heard they ride a bit stiff.

There are a couple other things that come with the TRD package. Let those be the deciding factor as both of the shock choices would benefit from an upgrade. Just my .02

TRD has slightly better shocks than SR5. Are you planning on swapping them out to an even smooth ride or?

That might be a good idea to make a swap. Did not think about that one

@ToyTec Lifts can help ya. Maybe a simple in-coil spacer level kit? Or you can get fancy...we know how to empty bank accounts here. Let us know :spending:

You will not find a better ride than the TRD Bilsteins for road driving, my 18 was so nice with them. No aftermarket upgrade will ride as nice. The regular black shocks are way too soft, and don’t last, my rears on 2 trucks leaked before 10k miles.

Great thanks, I was thinking the TRD shocks would be fine. Crazy all the different comments on test reports about shocks and handling.

My Platinum had the basic black shocks. At 40k miles I pulled them off when I installed my lift. They appeared to be completely worn out.

I have an 18 SR5 CM with a 3" level kit. I had the level kit installed with the stock black shocks but recently upgraded to the Bilstein 4600's (the light blue ones that come standard on the TRD pkg). I'm not much of an off roader so can't speak to that and didn't notice a difference in ride comfort on the Freeway or around town either. Where I did notice a huge difference was in the handling on curvy mountain roads, s turns, cornering etc.... For me it was a very notable difference and am so glad I made the change. Good luck!
