So it has been done. I finally sold my 2006 Pontiac G6 Gt that I bought new. It only has 81K miles on it. Its clean and the interior looks new. Now I need to use the money to fix my Envoy that blew a motor. That lead to my wifes new Armada. So now we have two SUV's lol. But my fleet has cut down to 4 again :)

The engine has arrived and the Envoy has been delivered to the shop. The engine I found is out of a 2004 Envoy with carfax verified 54k miles. It was totaled last month in Texas. Since the engine will be removed I got some stuff to swap since there will be no extra labor.

    I bought

    New water pump
    Intake gaskets
    Spark plugs
    Fan belt
    Oil level sensor
    Oil temp sensor

That Envoy will have some pep now. Should be able to get a decent price.

The Envoy will become my work commuter and zoo commuter since it fits better in parking spots and already has door dings.

Yeah, best to hang on to it. You don't have to park at the far end of the parking lot...

Was the motor failure the common sludging issue? I don’t know a lot about this issue other than what people have discussed online.

I have heard that very specific oil and intervals are critical, at way ridiculous early oil changes (2500-3000 miles max).

Very nice, did you have trouble finding a decent engine? I have the Trailblazer version, love it. Mine will break 30k miles today on my way to lunch.

An LS will bolt right in. Obviously there’s more to it than that. With the right stance and wheels along with that LS they are fun little SUVs.

The oil pressure sensor didnt bother to tell me the oil was low. Its routinely changed and doesnt leak. It burned off all the oil between changes.

It needs some serious modding converting from a 4.2l though
Ya the SS was the Trailblazer. The Envoy Denali also got the 5.3l

Oh, so if we all checked oil every other fill up it would have been caught...like anyone does that anymore.

This is a good example to get me back into checking my fluids more, especially when I’m working.

Yeah Chevy version had the half ton pick up transmission I think it was a 4L 60 the rear end came with 411 gears and the whole truck was lowered an inch from factory. That along with different bumper covers made it look pretty damn sweet. 4E132D0A-900B-4155-A94F-D77BA7DD2ADC.jpg

There was a Buick version of these to that had the 5.3 in them. Have a buddy that the auto t case in his lock up and sent the half shaft through the oil pan. Was a pita to replace, crazy how gm runs the half shafts through the oil pans on these suv's.

Heck yeah! I had a 14” magnaflow. I swear that car sounded so good. There’s nothing like the roar of an LS motor.
You could also get the EXT trailblazer with a 5.3. But I’m pretty sure the standard trailblazer only came with the straight six. Also when I found mine I made sure I did not get AWD. I was about to put 3000 stall yank converter in. Going to have the transmission beefed up at the same time. Decided against it as I started fighting metal shavings in the oil filter. These particular LS motors were prone to having the bearings go out in them. I also always noticed that it just seemed out of balance at around 2000 to 2200 RPM. I decided to get rid of it while it was still worth something.

The mechanic at the Toyota dealer bought it. He blew the transmission up within two months of owning it. I drove it for 60,000 miles without a glitch. He then rebuilt the trans, beefed it up and put a big loppy cam heads on it. It’s pretty mean. But he kind of ghettoed it out. Seems like everyone that owns one of those has to add extra SS badges and Corvette emblems. SMH. And he drives the shit out of it. I can’t stand to see him in it LOL.

So the engine is out. They said one motor mount nut was gone and the other was really loose. Not sure how that happens since no work has ever been done to it before.
