I was told that people have been known to install 5th wheel/goose neck hook-ups in the tundras. Is there anything to this? Has anyone heard/saw this? Not saying I want to, simply curious.

LMAO thats what I figured, as well. My F350 had one. Hooked a 30' goose neck to it and loaded a lifted, extended cab chevy z71 on it. It did the job, but I definitely knew it was there. I could only imagine hooking the same load to my tundra. Would prolly have to wear a whiplash collar.

I’ve pulled fairly heavy with 3/4 tons at my previous job, dk why anyone would want to put that kind of setup on a 1/2 ton pickup. I’ve always figured if I needed to, I’d just go buy an older 7.3 for pulling and keep the Tundra.

I've seen some with 5vers and GN hitches. It is a safer way to tow, but that pin weight....damn.

My exact thoughts. The heaviest i'll be pulling is my tractor setup... around 10k. May actually go rent a mini-excavator next week. But that'll be about it, besides my super heavy 1448 aluminum boat.

The rental places where your at let you rent a mini excavator with a 1/2 ton? All the local rental shops around here wouldn't allow any 1/2 ton tow equipment. I just had them drop it off at he house for 30.00.

When my son bought his used 2008 Tundra it had a goose neck hitch in the bed. He had no need for it and removed it.

They had a guy a few years ago rented a skid steer with a tacoma. He was warned, but they let him go anyway. About 5 mins later, he was calling from the middle of a 4 way. The load had pushed him into the intersection. Basically, all they do is advise, or at least, they did the last time i rented a piece of equipment.

Yeah, my neighbor had to learn. He took a science class. Thought that science class and watching the Big bang Theory gave him super nerd powers to do that.
