Tundra ranked last, what do you think

I could care about that fanboy list, Tundra is the Best truck on the road. I don't care about all the technology there putting in trucks these days and how Tundra lacks the same. I think the Tundra is well balanced and does not overly clog the dashboard. I have a friend who has a chevy hd and the dashboard looks like a airplane cockpit. There's no list that's changing my decision when I go to purchase my next Tundra, unless of course they quit building them. Not!

 

I couldn't agree more. Im a Carpenter by rate so we all drive our trucks to work n I get all kinds of crap bout my truck n hard to defend against all these ass bags

 

I bought my Tundra because it was a Toyota and a tried and true platform. There are 2nd gen Tundras with over 3/4 million miles and going strong! The tundra is a ridiculously over-built 1/2 ton and if you dont overwork it then it should last forever! It lacks some tech, but mine has everything I 'need' and I dont expect it to break anytime soon. I'll take that (and the lowest price of the bunch!) over having the newest tech available.

 

Just al around. Towing, ride comfort, tech, mpgs. I was totally blown away by this. I for sure thought we would be top 2

 

It was probably marked down a lot because it hasn't had a major overhaul in quite a while, and tends to not have quite as many bells and whistles that seems to turn off the really techie reviewers who think that tried and true isn't as good as new and whiz bang.

 

I had a 2016 F150 last week that we are developing our locking under seat storage for. I could not wait to get back into my Tundra. The Ford was way too busy. If you guys think the Entune is glitchy and hard to use, try using Sync. It sucks. I have been driving Toyota's now for 20 plus years and I don't think I will ever buy anything else. The Tundra does have its issues, but I would have that over any other Truck.

 

who knows... sponsorship dollars might have a lot to do with the results of these shootouts.

 

I bought my Tundra as an investment. In 5-10 years my Tundra will have held its value better than most if not ALL those trucks. Not only do I have the option to hold onto this truck and drive it to 3...4...500k miles, but if I don't, I know I can sell or trade it in for top dollar when I go to get my next Tundra.

 

I just have a big grin on my face knowing theres a Tundra in my garage! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. LOL

 

Having owned a newer GMC I can say the GMC ride is the smoothest on the road. I dont have my tundra yet but the ride was very stiff to that of the GM. But the HP in the tundra is 65hp higher and the crewmax has the most room I'v seen. The Tundra is a mans truck that fits a mans needs.

 

When the time comes to trade my Tundra, it will be to buy a newer Tundra, enough said!

 

Sean I would never insinuate that, haha. My definition of a fanboy is someone who repeatedly buys the same vehicle even though it has a history of problems. Mechanical,Dependability, Terrible Resale Value, and Ugliness. Pretty much every truck on the list, excluding the Tundra. Just my opinion.

 

Is that what that means, I guess I was a fanboy for chevy in my younger more vulnerable days. No one introduced me to the tundras sorry it took 3 chevys to get here

 

2001 Tundra here, only normal maintenance. I did replace the pop out window "dog bones" though. Not bad for 15 years old, even the paint is still very good, living outside in the so cal sun. I'm a satisfied customer. Cheers.

 

Car & Driver??? Who gives a rats *ss what they think. "Truck Trend " is even worse. Toyota trucks do not even exist at "Fruck Trend". Same as Motor Trend (which is full of Chevy/GM/Ford and Ram crap ads . I get all the 4X4 off road mags, literally, and don't trust most of their BS. I go by "Toyota Owners" mag and "Consumers Report" : no ads.


Just for sh*ts & grins, the 2016 Tundra came in the top ten of the Cars.com top 50 most reliable/worry free "cars" list. Based upon 1000's of responses of actual owner experiences. First time a truck actually made the "car" list.

 

Yep, really don't care what they rank it at. I know what I have.

 

I won't be convinced on how good the Tundra is until "The View" (girls?) chime in.

You know, you may be (are) right. Tundras hold their value big time. If you lose only (lets say) $4K+value or so after driving it for 3 or 4 years (or more), you have actually come out even or ahead when trade in time comes.

 

Imagine trying to tow a heavy load with as low as 3.23 diff ratio depending on configuration, then the computer automatically decides to kick in 4cyl mode. I do believe that mode can be turned off.

 

I wonder how many trucks the author has owned.

 

Author probably owns a Chevy Volt. Not going to pick on Prius owners any more. (hah hah, just fooling)

 

My 2014 with 28k miles and not even a squeak , rattle, shake, shimmy, fart, fuss or anything. It has been absolutely perfect. My 2009 F250 by this milage had been flat bedded 4 times, limp mode twice, and a laundry list of little stuff repaired by the dealer. Maybe I had a bad one. My neighbors bought his F150 King Ranch the same week I bought mine. He has replaced some part of the turbo, ( I don't know the details) and this week the top half of the motor is being rebuilt and he is at 22k miles. Maybe he just got a bad one too. Maybe Toyota chooses to use the most dependable technology instead of the latest but not so greatest technology.
Car and Driver .... What part of truck is in their name?... I am thrilled with finally owning a truck that works.

2007 unlimited. 189,560 miles and counting. No major issues, except for oil changes, timing belt change at 120,000 miles, radiator flush at 100,000 miles, fan belt change at 150,000 and I am on my 3rd tire change. I was planning to get a new one, but after I washed, buffed the truck and conditioned the leather inside, I decided to keep it. Still looks new.

 

Decided to give the truck to grandson (when he grows up) !

 

Same here Primo. My daughter wants it so if she gets the grades, it's hers. 156k on the clock and still looks, smells and drives like new.

 

I'll much rather have my kids drive the truck, rather than the RAV4. They are safer in the truck.
