    Hey all,

Been using my 4x4 a lot lately, mostly in sand but a few times on a rocky dirt trail. I haven't experienced binding (I think) and I've come across some forums (that I could find) on binding and what it is but would like a more detailed description. Questions like what does it feel like and sound like, can you hear it happening or when it happens, and what are minor and major consequences of it?

Any input would be sweeeeet. Thanks!

While in 4WD, it around a turn on dry pavement...you’ll know.

Don’t do it, but you’ll feel it lock up like the rest diff isn’t engaging and wants to hop around.

Haha! @Sean266 . I will for sure not try that. Driving in sand at times where I for sure need the 4x4, I feel like I'm giving it throttle and I'm slowly moving forward then all of a sudden I jolt and then slow again. I am like 99% sure this is just because of the sand clumps that I hit and when it grabs through.

Keeping it straight you won’t bind. If it’s not detecting slippage, you’ll get binding while turning.

@Sean266 cool, thanks! In 4hi on soft sand where there is for sure slippage, I don't need to worry about turns...? will the LSD or TC affect this?

I haven’t been in sand, but in snow I like my traction off.

@Sean266 Does it matter if I have traction is on or off in 4hi? in relationship to binding?

When going to a dry patch in snow it can scare you a bit. Like the tranny is falling out

You may be experiencing the A-Trac kicking in. There's a recent thread about it.

This might have been it. After reading up on this thread, it sounds like it directly applies to what I've been experiencing. No wonder when I punch it through the sand the whiplash kicks in haha. I'll try and turn these things off and see if I feel a difference?
