    Lets see what everybody thinks.
Basically I need new shocks, and I want a lifted/leveled truck.

    Toytec Ultimate (Bilstein)
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Ultimate-lift-kit-with-Bilstein-shocks-for-Tundra_p_395.html

    or

    Old Man Emu
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/25-OME-Lift-Kit-for-00-06-Tundra_p_1227.html
(yes, with the OME kit a BPV bracket and diff drop kit will be purchased separately)

    or

    Toytec Boss
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/BOSS-Suspension-System-for-2000-2006-Tundra_p_1140.html

    ------

This will be a "daily driver" with no serious off-roading, only the occasional off road exploring.
I'm most curious about ride quality and durability.
I do not plan on ever adding heavy bumpers or a winch.
    Hope to stuff 285/65r18 tires.

    Ride quality of each shock/coilover?

I have a second gen so I really can't comment on the first gens however I voted Bilsteins because that is what I purchased for my truck. I have never had OME so I can't tell you a comparison.
I am happy with my choice. I kept them at the stock setting for now. I am pretty sure it is set at 3".

I'm running the OME setup and have no complaints. It's been great on washboards. I've never run the Bilstein's on the Tundra so I can't really compare apples to apples, however I've run Bilstein's on other trucks and would expect them to provide a little more plush ride on the street.

Just know that the OME setup was originally designed for 2nd gen Tacoma's. OME never meant for them to be used on the Tundra. I decided on the OME based on low maintenance/reliability along other reviews of people having them on their Tundra. I think Slee was the one who originally offered this setup for Tundra's.

TLDR; I have OME and would do it again.

I'd be thrilled to get a few more 1st Gen. Tundra people to weigh in on the original post, especially @ToyTec Lifts ! Its a big investment with a lot of variables and very few people have experience with all Toytec Boss, Bilstein and OME suspension.

yep bank account is running low from it..
For my 1st gen it's still stock. I don't want really any lift on mine for reasons.
OME I might go with but really I haven't got to that point with it. I need adjusting front ones. Toytec maybe. Alcan is the one, will do my rear springs, that's the only for sure things.

I'm running OME 885 springs on 90004 struts. Lifted the front about 3". Love the setup. Rides amazingly on washboard and rough road..

do you know why the OME setup is meant for 2nd gen Tacomas, yet will work with 1st gen Tundras? ...and it doesn't seem like all 2nd gen Tacoma lift kits work with 1st gen Tundras.

A 2nd gen taco and 1st gen Tundra are actually fairly close in size. The extended and collapsed length of the OME strut is a perfect match for the 1st Gen Tundra (its practically identical to the 5100). The OME 885/886 coils are a HD coil for a Tacoma if you have extra weight upfront like a bumper/winch. So for a stock Tundra they match perfectly.

The reason I went with the OME setup vs Bilstein or a coilover was the bulletproof reputation. I wanted something that would last and I wouldn't have to worry about. That said I think I'd skip putting the OME shocks out back. I'd go with a longer Bilstein.

I asked ToyTec about the rears. Toytec recommended sticking with the new OME nitro charger shocks for the rear since they were specifically three staged valved for my Tundra. Don't mix and match is what was said to me. Go with the complete system. I did. No regrets at all. I would assume the same for 1st gen OME suspension. Call ToyTec.

I have ome up front, light racing spc ucas and a 3leaf aal out back with toytec boss shocks hows that for a conglomeration! I had full ome on my taco. Which is why i put it on the front of the tundra. Bullet proof on and off road and maintenance free. Cant beat the ruggedness and it still rides just fine on all terrains u throw at it. Out back i went with the boss shocks because i leanred from the taco, the ome shocks are pretty short on purpose. They limit the articulation for warranty and longevity reasons. My truck rides very well

The OME's out back restrict down travel even with the stock leafs. I bought everything through Toytec as well, great people to work with. I'd just recommend something longer in the rear.

I have zero restriction with my new OME Nitro Chargers out rear. Plenty of travel. Found out two weekends ago up in the CO Rocky Mountains when I first put my OME setup to the test. But then again this is on my 2nd gen 07. You are right about ToyTec. OME does have new shocks. Maybe longer travel for 1st gens with the new Nitro Chargers. Maybe. ToyTec folks would know for sure.

I just bought the OME front and rear with icon AALs. Would you say new UCAs would be necessary?

I have ome lift with front and rear and aal.

First thing that happened was steering rack. Replaced, but busshibu went bad within weeks. New bushings.

Felt popping up front turning. It was lca bushings. I just put new lca r and left, all new BJs too. The 4x4 shop said UCA not necessary with just the small lift, but wonder if the extension was needed.

Of course OEM BJs all the way. My toy tech is a friend and has an 05, but no lift. Said UCA don't take the beating as lca or the ubj.

I installed a diff drop, replaced the top hats, as well as the bushings. The stock UCA contacted the spring at full droop.

Since I posted that above I've installed SPC UCA's and switched to adjustable Bilstein 5100's on the middle perch with stock Tundra SR5 Offroad coils. I think I have about 1.5" of lift and the ride has been much smoother. For what I use the truck for now (towing, hauling, commute, rare off road dirt two tracks) this setup has been great.

This is with the current Bilstein setup and 245/75r17 tires:

I have had OME on a 4runner and it was a great install it and forget it suspension. Very durable, helped with off road and towing and stopped load induced bottoming (4 adults, fully loaded on a family trip). Handled load much better than the stock suspension. OME does ride firmer.

If softness of ride is most important, then I suggest 5100s or the Toytec lifts...any of them you will be happy with, just depends on your budget.

If you are ok with a firmer ride, needs some better handling of load or towing, then you can't go wrong with OME.

Hey guys. I’m don’t know much about suspension but I know my rear is starting to go so I figured time to buy the old tundra something nice. I got some moog lower ball joints, a diff drop kit, and this OME kit https://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/199...it-2-lift-by-old-man-emu-lr-ometun99lksb.html
What do you guys think? do I need upper/lower control arms?
Also trying to pick out a decent set of bump stops if anyone has any suggestions that’d be rad. Thanks Tundra gangly
