When I last sold a vehicle several years ago I did so through Autotrader and had a decent experience.

I recently put my corolla up for sale & have had calls from weird area codes, requests to send a report from "vindatafax" (which is a scam site), and all other manner of nonsense. It makes a fellow want to simply do a trade in and give up the retail price just to avoid society's dregs.

I'm so glad I got a google voice "trash" number that's forwarded to my e-mail. I'd be really ticked if all these jerks were getting through to my actual cell #.

Rant over for now but if I don't see a legitimate buyer soon I'm going to see what carmax will offer for it.

Yeah Craigslist can be a sketchy place. At my previous house my neighbor was moving so he did a for sale by owner on his home and placed it on one of those home sale websites (think it was Zillow). I happened to be selling my home too and was looking for a rental place to stay while we built our home. I saw his house for rent on Craigslist for super cheap, text him and said "thought you were selling your house not renting it", he had no clue somebody was using pictures of his house he posted on Zillow to run a scam. He immediately pulled his off the market. Scared him quite a bit.

I just had another priceless one - "uh yeah, this is fedex and I'm trying to deliver this package, but I know the address is wrong - what's your address?"

I had 2 scammers tried to tag team when selling my boat. They were real jerks. First ? was what is your lowest price. Then started asking a bunch of ?s that the ad addressed. One jerk even asked if i had run the motor which had a dead hole. I said why do that and risk more damage? When I sold my daughters Liberty first call (within minutes of posting ad) was what is your bottom $. I just told him the price is listed. He started whining that he only had x$. I said "your problem". I think every vehicle I have sold the first calls were all the same. What is your bottom $?

I hate selling things on CL. If its not a scammer its some douchebag trying to buy something for bottom dollar so he can flip it and make a profit. Or if your trying to buy something its the same idiot with an 89 Honda civic with a salvaged title and painted 6 different colors with a million miles for 10g's....but it has racing pedals bro!

Sold my wife’s 2016 QX60 on Craigslist. We were going to trade it in. But just threw it online real quick with low expectations.

1st caller came by and swooped it up for $35k cash. Dealer was offering $32k trade in.

Stick with it... you never know.
