My tailgate won’t unlock on my 13’ DC. Normally I’d just start taking it apart from the inside. But, I have a Bakflip G2 on it and no way to get it open with the tailgate stuck closed. Anyone dealt with this and have a solution?

Sorry I don’t have your answer, but that really sucks. You think it’s just frozen inside because the weather? Sorry I can’t tell where you’re from.

No, it’s been 70’s here all week. It acted weird the last time I unlocked it, and I wasn’t going to lock it again. But, I forgot to tell the wife that.

I'd try some lock de icer then lubricate it with some graphite lubricant. I always grease my tailgate latches because that's where it always freezes on me.

So does it unlock but the handle just doesn’t work? For example does the handle move just nothing happens?Or is the lock itself not turning?

The lock itself will not unlock.

Crisis averted! Make sure you always have a fresh key at home that you can go back to. Get new keys made from the good key. Actually I think in my paperwork I have a key code that they can use as reference. I actually had a key cut that will at least get me in my doors if I lose my keys I’m carrying. I keep a hide a key under the truck. Then I may or may not have a chipped ignition key stashed in the vehicle.

Install the pop n lock tailgate lock to cure that forever. Then the bed is always locked/unlocked when the truck is! Part number PL8535 about $85. Did that and the LED bed lights under my solid fold. It is awesome seeing under there. part 00016-34089 fits 2nd gen just fine as the 2nd and 3rd gen have the same bed (on the inside of the bed at least)
