So I'm wanting to replace my factory tires (TRD OR Michelins 275/65/r18) with 275/70/r18. Ive asked about Ridge Grapplers, Toyo RT, and Toyo AT2. It dawned on me that my buddy had Trail Grapplers and last time I talked to him about a year ago he was needing to replace them and was wanting RGs. He wound up getting a killer deal on AT2 but he replaced the Trail Grapplers at 70k on a 3/4 Dodge diesel crewcab, 70k MILES!!! Granted he said he should have at 60k but that's impressive to me. I asked if he wouldn't have gotten the deal on the AT2 would he still get those, RG, or TG. His response was that he'd have gone back to the TG. So my question is those with or who have run Trail Grapplers what kind of mileage did you get or expect to get from them? I never considered a mud tire but I've read these are great in snow and rain and I love the MT look just never thought I'd consider them but 70k miles DAMN!!!

i had about 50k on them on my FJ using a 5 tire rotation. there was probably another 15k left in them when i sold it. tundra is a bit heavier so we'll see how it goes but i'm expecting to be pretty close to that. they handle great in all conditions but they really excel in the dirt and snow. there's a bit of a hum on the highway but it isn't unbearable.

Currently have, and about to take off TG’s. I initially had them on my 15’ CM, and transferred them over to my new 18’ CM a few months ago. Total mileage was about 48k miles on them. Second set, and pretty much the same mileage on both sets. I am also pretty religious about rotating them....
Switched over to RBP’s and going to try them simply for the cost. Paid $900 and changed shipped to my door.

For a DD that will occasionally go through some rocky Ozark Mountain side roads along with the annual snow and ice (some years bad some good) would the Trail be a viable option or should I focus on the Ridge Grapplers or maybe the RT?

Mine is a DD also. I agree with smslavin and they do well in dirt/mud, also sand. I have no opinion on snow (FL truck).
There is a hum, but nothing crazy.

So now that I'm on a M/T tire, from what research I've done on the interwebs it seems as though the Ridge Grapplers do better in wet and snowy conditions vs the Nitto MT is that correct? Also I've seen where people get 20k out of a Trail Grappler yet some get 50k plus but who knows what driving style, rotation, and psi played a part in that. Hers a video of an Australian with TGs, he says they have 50km which would equate to about 31k miles but in the video you can catch a glimpse and see his were made in Japan unless my eyes are deceiving me (about the 4:55 min mark) . Does the rest of the world get Nittos made in Japan and we get the ones made in GA?

My truck is my DD. I also live in the snow country. They do well in the snow/ice. You do have to be light on the accelerator though. They tend to dig in quickly. My kids love the ride on long distance trips. Comfortable and relatively quiet (little hum). In terms of quality, I have zero complaint. . . . . and did I mention that they look awesome?

The Nitto Trail Grap M/T's I owned at one point did fairly well in deep snow, not so much on your typical winter highway conditions with packed snow and ice. The RG's should perform much better in those conditions IMO.

I would say if you go in expecting 70k miles on such an aggressive tire, you are setting yourself up for a let down. I'm not doubting your friend got that on his, nor that there aren't others getting a lot of miles on them, but as you have also read, there are plenty that wear down in 30k miles. The tire technology has come a long ways in terms of road noise and tread life for such aggressive tires. I would say that with proper rotations and care, you should have no problem getting close to 50k miles on them. Honestly, I would say getting 45-50k on a tire like that would certainly be getting your monies worth.

IMHO the only decent tires that may get you 70K are Michelin's
