Tow Mirror BSM Confirmation

I can now confirm that the Tow Mirrors that have the BSM feature do in fact work. You do need to have this feature already on your truck. Although some have said that there may be a way to add some LED lights to simulate the ones that are built into the mirror.

Just ordered for my 18. Hopefully they fit well. I’ll post pix after install. Have you experienced any issues with them vibrating in the wind in excessive amounts? I think I read that in another thread. I’m sure something can be done to reduce it regardless if there is.

 

Does it also have power fold? And memory?

 

The ones I ordered don’t. The memory feature may work if you have it though.

 

No vibration to speak of. I just made sure that the gasket is seated correctly on the back of the mirror. Tightened the mounting nuts really good and hoped for the best. I have had good luck with this brand, as I had the non BSM version on my previous truck. Their warranty (LifeTime) seems to be good as well.

No power fold or memory function on these as my truck is only a Limited.

Try calling the company and see if they sell them somewhere.

 

I can live without memory. Power fold, signals/running light, bsm, puddle lamps is a must though!

I don't know for sure on the 18's , but they worked on my 16 and now on my 17 as well.

 

No puddle light on any of the tow mirrors that I’m aware of. Guessing you have a Platinum (hence the power fold inquiry). The running lights don’t work on that model but the signals do work. I have the 1AAuto tow mirrors on my 2013. In 1.5years I’ve had them replaced under warranty 3 times. First had faulty wiring from the factory, second had lots of play in the folding arm, third the power fold stopped working occasionally and would only fold/un-fold half way. Warranty return process has been quick and easy though.

Memory has been an important feature for me since the mirrors are in different spots for normal driving vs when they are extended for towing.

 

I have been looking for a tow mirror option and in previous years know that there were some mounting issues with aftermarket mirrors. I really like what you guys are saying here and just want to confirm that these mirrors from Trail Ridge are quality and don't have any play once they are installed.

Wow thanks for the informative post! I will def stay away from 1A. Stick with OEM mirrors only.

 

For me it was an acceptable trade-off. The OEM power folding tow mirrors are around $800 while the 1A mirrors are under $400. I knew I wasn't going to get OEM quality and would likely have some issues so I'm glad their customer service has been top-notch.

I see they are heated, and have turn signals too. Do the turn signals work on your 17 Limited? I have a 16 Limited and that would be a cool addition.

You’ve had them installed most of the year now - how have they performed? Worth it?

 

Yes the work flawlessly.

 

Do they light up when the headlights are on or just when the turn signal is on?

 

Running lights are on anytime the lights are on...parking-headlights. Blinkers work whenever the turn signals are activated. What you see in the picture is the running lights.

Anyone have an idea if these work on a 2019? I assume so...but 1A Auto told me today that they won't guarantee fit or warranty them on a 19. They're only listed up to 18 because they haven't updated the specs.

 

Went ahead and ordered them. OEM part numbers they replace haven't changed from 2018 to 19.

 

This may have been mentioned, but to they have the auto dim feature?

 

Damn should have purchased these earlier. I had a note that they were $254 but now they are $284. Was waiting for eBay coupon.
