Because of the roof rack? There are some roof racks that do not require holes. Perhaps they are not as solid as is needed with the RTT?
    All guidance appreciated, thanks

Hi, Will: I did see your request for recommendations for a truck cap to house your surfboards. I'm sorry, I don't know :notsure: but, since we all jumped in to help with off-grid camping ideas, I figured I'd help you with a bump. If you've already searched the forum and haven't found what you need, it'd be okay to post a new thread asking for what you want. More people will see your question that way.... Let us know if you find one. Good luck!

I went with the Relentless Fab bed bars because they are a sturdier and cooler :spy: option! Plus they are a vendor on here.

That's nice. Where that be in Granby if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks. Right now the BakFlip covers the truck bed, which gives us a lot of secure storage. I'd not want to lose that.

Thanks! I have emailed them to see if they do in fact have the bed rack that co-fits with the BakFlip.

I think if the bakflip lowers the factory rails then it won’t work... but I could be wrong.

My understanding is the rail slips under the BakFlip lip, leaving a slight gap. For me this is not so muuch about waterproofing as it is about security. The mere appearance of a gap could appear inviting to the wrong person.

It's off of CR55 before you get into Granby on the left. Tried going up to grand lake near all the dirtbike trails but every campsite was taken. This worked out a lot better in the end!

OK, camping peeps, I'm in the market for new camping chairs. Been using the standard folding camping chairs and in need of an upgrade. What are y'all using for camping chairs? Not too heavy, sturdy, comfy, foldable that could be used for kids sporting events too. Gotta have a cup holder (for water of course ;)). Let me know so I can look to get some now that summer is 4 months away LOL

The cost is agreed at when looking at the sticker. However honestly, how often we've used it, through storms and sand and even birthday parties, she holds up perfect. Zippers always work, mesh sides and flaps work perfectly. I know "you get what you pay for" doesn't always have to mean $$$ but with the Breeze after two years of use so far, I've already forgotten what I had paid for it.

So depending on how often you may put things through its paces its worth considering.

Edit: We camp with always 4 + 2 dogs and often with family and friends so the large size is highly welcomed and used. We can fit 2 picnic tables inside with room to navigate around. Has come in handy through a couple rain storms so far.

MAMMOTH TRIP 04/20/18 thru 04/22/18 - PHOTO DUMP!!!

So guys I thought I share my trip from this past weekend with all you. It was for my 31st birthday, which was this Monday 23rd, and was a last minute trip me and the lady decided to do. Next time I want to do a planned trip with some of you Tundra folks, NoCal and SoCal together.

    FRIDAY - 04/20/18
Decided last minute Thursday night that Mammoth sounded fun for the weekend so I had to work a full day Friday. After work Friday I filled up the propane tank, picked up a few essential items and we hit the road around 7PM. We took a light camping load since we would mostly be snowboarding all day and just finding a place to make dinner and sleep. Two coolers because one as full of nice cold beer for the whole trip.

    IMG_1391.jpg

Hitting the road at 7PM we left SoCal and started our way up the 395. We planned to camp on the South side of the 395 across from the airport the first night since it is not too far off the road and we would be getting there late. Which we arrived at 1am. I did not take any pictures but I was sure happy I had my ditch bracket lights and light bar this time around. Sure made it easy to find a camp site.

    SATURDAY 04/21/18
After finding our camp site late at 1AM we woke up to a nice 31 degrees at 6:30am, which is not cold to me. This view in the morning was a great way to start the trip for sure.

    IMG_1393.jpg
    InkedIMG_1395_LI.jpg
    IMG_1398.jpg

After taking in the view I started to bring out the cooking stuff for breakfast when Ashlynn asked if we can cheat and dine in for breakfast. Me being as starving as I was I said that's fine. So we packed up the tent and headed into town. We stopped at Base Camp for a huge breakfast before hitting the slopes.

    IMG_1399.jpg

After filling up we hit the slopes of Mammoth for a day full of fun in the Sun. Such an amazing day with perfect weather and not a cloud in the sky.

    IMG_1400.jpg IMG_1402.jpg IMG_1412.jpg

At lunch time we took a break and I got to try out the TuffStuff4x4 awning for the first time. I do have to say they took in the feedback, read it and made changes to make this product better. They added more Velcro straps so it does not flap in the window at all any more like the better quality ones.

    IMG_1415.jpg

After riding all day at Mammoth we hit the road around 3pm to find our campsite for the second night. Anyone wanting to camp between Mammoth and June Lake you will have no luck for a few more weeks as there still is too much snow which we found out the hard way. All the side roads are still closed. So our second choice to camp was off Owens road and out by the hot springs where there was no snow. Headed down Owens road for about 12 miles we made our way onto the 3S198 then to 3S145 where I got a few new pin strips to add to the truck. We passed the hot springs and kept on going because they were full. We found a nice secluded site with a fire pit so we stopped here for the night.

    IMG_1419.jpg
    IMG_1421.jpg
    IMG_1424.jpg
    IMG_1426.jpg

Saturdays dinner was just some easy Chicago dogs with beans thanks to the cooking of Ashlynn. We moved the chairs around the camp fire where we ate our food, had a few beers and talked about the day before we crawled into the tent for the night.

    IMG_1432.jpg
    InkedIMG_1436_LI.jpg

    SUNDAY 04/22/18
Sleep was early Saturday around 8:45pm so we woke up early Sunday at 5:30AM and packed up so we could get a better parking spot then we did on Saturday. WE arrived early and got to park only a few spot away from Main Lodge so it was an excellent decision. After we parked we fired up the grill and made some breakfast burritos, got dressed and waited for Mammoth to open.

    IMG_1437.jpg
    IMG_1439.jpg

Sunday was for sure hotter then Saturday making it slushier faster but it was still a fun day. Even messed around to see how fast I could go down the backside. I got up to 52 mph which was not my fastest but still fun flying that fast on a board.

    IMG_1440.jpg

After doing that, we did a few park runs for fun in the slush and then decided to hit the road home to Riverside.

    IMG_1445.jpg

As always ...... See you next time Mammoth for MTBing in the summer with maybe a few fellow Tundra guys!!!!

Looks like you guys had a great time. How do the Relentless Bars hold up with the tent? I haven't picked up a RTT yet...

Relentless bars are holding up great. I have nothing negative to say about them at this time.

Let me know if you are still looking for a few free camp sites in bear too. There are tons of little pull outs for dispersed camping around Holcomb Valley.
